BEST BET 🏆   

Race 7 No. 3 BRUDENELL- ($4) 

Some big names line up in the $500,000 Country Discovery. BRUDENELL draws the inside barrier and can punch up to settle in the lead or leaders back. He has won two of his past three and was 5th two starts ago in a hot Oakleigh Plate (1100m) before rising to the 1200m at Caulfield and scoring ahead of the likes of Maharba and Rey Magnerio. The Kris Lees-trained galloper has gone more than 10 lengths faster than standard benchmark at his past three starts and will be ridden by Mark Zahra.

Race 3 No.7 MISLEAD- ($4.40) 

Some promising types feature in Race 3 at Yarra Glen and MISLEAD is a leading contender after placing 5th at Group 2 level at her most recent run. That came in the Kewney Stakes (1600m) at Flemington behind Autumn Angel, who is one of the leading fancies for the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Saturday, Prior to Flemington, Mislead won two in succession in easier company at Pakeham. She draws barrier 3 for this assignment and will be ridden by Michael Dee

Race 6 No. 1 STARSPANGLED BABY- ($4.20) 

There are some scratchings to key runners here and STARSPANGLED BABY can capitalise. The six-year-old is a possible leader and should be suited at Yarra Valley. She comes off a last start win at Bairnsdale over the 1600m in an open race and was close up in a number of runs prior to that. Step up to the 1950m should suit and the daughter of Starspangledbanner should be hard to get past at the business end.
