Yeppoon Tips for Tuesday, September 12

Our form expert provides Yeppoon tips for today’s horse racing at Yeppoon Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.4  BETTER OFF SINGLE  ($1.80 with bet365)

The Stuart Kendrick-trained BETTER OFF SINGLE is five starts into this campaign and facing easier opposition today, looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the All Too Hard mare gave a bold sight of herself when she finished a close-up third in a 1050m Maiden Hcp at Rockhampton. Sent out a white-hot ($1.45) race favourite, she led from the outset and had three lengths on them passing the 200m mark, but was grabbed on the line by two runners at double-figure odds. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and is joined by Ryan Wiggins for the first time. If it doesn’t happen today, when will it happen ?

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.2  BOLD HUSSAR  ($3.05 with BoomBet)

The Garnet Taylor-trained BOLD HUSSAR has found his mojo again and looks set to make his Yeppoon debut a winning one today. Last start, the Holy Roman Emperor gelding came of a run of four-straight unplaced finishes when he was reunited with Ryan Wiggins who kept his strike rate with the galloper going by steering him to victory in a BM0-55 over 1500m on his home track at Rockhampton. He drew the car park that day in gate 11 (of 12) and after settling back in the field, took the turn six and seven-deep. Responding to hard riding, he passed them all in a flash and hung on for a game win. Recently named Rockhampton jockey of the year, Wiggins has a glowing resume with the four-year-old, boasting two wins and two minor placings from his five rides to date on the gelding and drawn much better today in gate five, he should be there at the finish.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.2  GOLDEN ATHENA  ($9.50 with Bet Right)

Mackay trainer John Manzelmann has a strong presence here as he saddles-up six of the seven runners with GOLDEN ATHENA carrying our cash today. Two starts back, the Golden Archer mare finished unplaced in a BM65 over 1200m at the country town of Bluff (90 Klms east of Emerald). Then last start, she was sent out (understandably) a $26 chance at Mackay where she surprised many by taking out an Open Hcp over 1200m. Justin Stanley has the reins today for his second ride on the five-year-old and provided she can hold her current form, she looks in the mix here at odds.
