Race by race
Race 1: Gallopers Sports Club Hcp (65) — 11:23, 1766m
Alfa Dundee is the one to build around here, even with an asterisk next to its name: three wins from its past four starts, but none of them at Doomben. There’s no local form to lean on, but a run of results like that doesn’t need a hometown discount. The horse is doing everything right at the moment, and Leslie Tilley’s thin book at this track doesn’t change what the horse has been doing on its own terms. Barrier eight in a field of twenty means cover early, which suits a horse in this sort of touch.

When a stable runs four in one race, where its better jockey goes matters, and Jake Bayliss goes to Barbray.
Aratiri is the each-way case against the Waller foursome: two placings from three runs recently, with Chelsea Baker aboard, a jockey who places on close to a third of her Doomben rides. Liberty Park has more question marks than answers. It’s a shorter recent sample than Express Payment’s, and that’s the only thing holding it back from a stronger vote of confidence.
