BEST BET: TREASURETHE MOMENT
Race 8
Treasurethe Moment has not put a hoof wrong in her last two appearances on the track. The filly has prevailed on both of those starts, with victories coming at Caulfield (1600m) and this course (2000m).
After scoring at Caulfield, trainer Matt Laurie opted to step his horse up in class in the Group Two Wakeful Stakes. She appreciated the extra distance in that race, getting going late on to score cosily. This even longer distance here is likely to suit the daughter of Alabama Express even more.
The improving filly has had enough time to recover from her latest success so expect to see her at her best in this Group One Crown Oaks. Victory in this race will ensure she establishes herself as one of the most exciting fillies in the sport.
SECOND BEST BET: GLOBE
Race 9
Globe outran his odds last time out in the Group Three Moonga Stakes at Caulfield. He went off at $25 but managed to finish a close fourth in the race won by Mighty Ulysses. With an excellent draw in barrier two here, expect to see him in the mix at the finish in the Chester Manifold Stakes, the final race on the card.
The six-year-old gelding is likely to be one of the early leaders in this 1600 metre contest, but it should not be an electric pace. If he can maintain a good position early on the race from barrier two, he can get the run of the race, and he may take some passing in the home straight here at Flemington.
Best Value: Zoubaby
Race 7
The draw has not been kind to Zoubaby in the Red Roses Stakes, as she has been handed barrier 12. However, her odds would most likely be much shorter had she been given a barrier on the inside.
The daughter of Zoustar showcased her pace at Warwick Farms last month, prevailing a handicap for three-year-olds over the distance of 1100m. There is likely to be much more to come from this sprinter, and although this is a hot field, she is the value to prevail.
