Gosford Racing Tips 6 Aug 2026 — can Berry own this track again?

Tommy Berry turns up to Gosford and the whole meeting tilts a fraction. He doesn’t just ride winners here, he rides them with intent, and when he’s on a progressive type from a stable that places horses well, you want to be early rather than clever. That’s the spine of this Gosford card: a handful of races where the right rider, the right gate, and the right stage of a prep matters more than trying to split hairs between five similar maidens.

We’ve got four races on turf, kicking off at 12:30. I’ll run you through each one like I’d do for a mate: what the race looks like, who gets the run, and where I’d actually bet. This is the Gosford racing tips piece you read when you want a view, not a spreadsheet.

Gosford — the setup

Going isn’t published in the data feed here, so treat early speed and patterns with a bit of humility until you see the first two run. The bigger thing I’m leaning on is who reliably performs at Gosford, because there’s a clear edge in the jockey ranks today.

Limited meaningful course horse form across the fields. Most runners have one or two starts here, so I’m treating those as single data points rather than “track specialists”.

Jockeys with proper Gosford volume (5+ rides) who matter today

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Tommy Berry 12 7 7 58.33 58.33
C Schofield 6 2 4 33.33 66.67
K McEvoy 14 4 8 28.57 57.14
L Magorrian 14 4 9 28.57 64.29
A Hyeronimus 13 1 6 7.69 46.15

Trainer-wise, two stables have the volume to trust their Gosford profile: C J Waller (26 runners here for 5 wins and 11 placings) and K A Lees (26 runners for 4 wins and 11 placings). That doesn’t make every runner a bet, but it does mean their “placed again” types deserve respect.

Race-by-race Gosford predictions

Race 1: Brew-B-Q @ Teg 7 Nov 2026 Mdn Plate — 12:30, 2297m

Honeyhill looks the right kind of stayer for this. That “8-8822” formline screams one thing: the horse keeps finding the line, keeps holding its spot, and it’s ready to stop being a professional place-getter if it lands in the right position early. From gate 4, L Magorrian can keep it out of trouble, and Magorrian’s Gosford record holds up with real volume: 14 rides, 4 wins, 9 placings. That’s the sort of jockey profile you want in an awkward maiden over a trip.

The old boy Autafinna has the obvious “nearly” look with “22” and barrier 1. The worry is he’s a six-year-old maiden and these types can find new ways to run second. Still, his recent run profile is hard to knock: in the last 90 days he’s had two runs and hit the frame both times, average finishing position of 2. If he gets a cheap time of it in front or box-seats, he can win.

If you want something at a price for the multiples, It’s Ok (Lees yard, gate 3) is the kind of runner that can lob into the first three just by being well placed and fit enough, even if the win isn’t there today.

Staking: Small each-way Honeyhill. Saver win bet Autafinna if the market lets you.

Race 2: Shamrock Joinery Midway Hcp (C1) — 13:05, 1750m

The question is whether Proxima Dea is simply better than them. He’s a three-year-old with one start for one win, and that’s all the recent evidence we have in the 90-day window too: one run, one win, paid well in prize money. David Payne is a serious Gosford angle with proper sample size: 4 runners here for 3 winners. Add C Schofield, who hits the frame two-thirds of his Gosford rides, and it reads like a horse the stable expects to keep progressing.

From barrier 4, Schofield can make his own luck. In these Midway-style races, I’d rather be with the horse who can improve lengths than the older horse who needs everything to fall into place.

The danger is Sirius Moss because the race shape suits it. Gate 2, likely to land closer than most, and while his course sample is only one run, he did place on that only visit. More importantly, his broader recent profile is rock solid: five runs in the last 90 days, one win and four placings, average finish 2.4. That’s not a fluke run, that’s a horse turning up and competing every time.

Staking: Win bet Proxima Dea. Quinella saver with Sirius Moss.

Race 3: Deltacorp Remedial Super Mdn Hcp — 13:40, 1203m

This is the race where I’m happiest to bet properly, because there’s a clean map and a clean profile. Temptation gets the inside gate (1) and Tommy Berry. At Gosford, Berry isn’t just a name, he’s a pattern: 12 rides here for 7 wins. That’s elite strike rate at a track where timing your runs matters. If Temptation has even a hint of tactical speed, Berry controls the race from a spot others can’t reach.

The unknown is the horse itself, because we don’t have exposed recent figures in the 90-day window. But in maidens, that can be a feature, not a bug. The stable is Bjorn Baker, who brings plenty of runners here (22 historically at the course) and places more than four in every ten. Also worth noting: Berry and Baker together at Gosford haven’t combined here in the recorded partnership data, so this isn’t about an established duo number, it’s about Berry’s track mastery and the gate.

The obvious danger is In Circles (A Hyeronimus, gate 3) because he’s already knocking on the door with “24” and Hyeronimus tends to give his horse a chance to win rather than a chance to place. Another you have to respect is Count du Money off “2” and Ashley Morgan, who places well at Gosford and draws to stalk the right runner.

Staking: Win bet Temptation. Exacta box with In Circles and Count du Money if you’re playing exotics.

Race 4: Tradies Race Day 28 Aug 2026 Mdn Plate — 14:20, 1312m

The market will probably lean toward the big stables, and that’s fair, but I want the horse who keeps putting itself in the fight. Acharnee brings a “26-2” profile that says the penny has dropped. It’s only one Gosford run on record, but it was a placing on that sole start here, and that matters as a confidence marker more than a “track stat”. From gate 7, Rachel King can slide across, and she’s a genuine Gosford operator with 18 rides here, 6 wins, 10 placings.

Snitzel Miss (Waller, gate 1, Kerrin McEvoy) is the danger you have to fear, because it’s the perfect set-up on paper: inside draw, a jockey who wins often enough here to trust (14 rides, 4 wins), and a stable that sends out winners at Gosford at a strong clip from real volume (26 runners, 5 wins, 11 placings). If she finds the fence and the right split, she can absolutely mug them.

I’m also keeping Gus The Great safe. The formline “4-322” says it’s ready, and Schofield is the sort of rider who makes his move at the right time at this track. The only knock is we don’t have a recent 90-day sample for him to confirm the stable has him right on the day, so I’m not declaring him the play.

Staking: Each-way Acharnee. Saver win bet Snitzel Miss if she’s a fair price. If the track is clearly favouring the inside by Race 3, bump the saver.

Where the money goes

NAP: Temptation (Race 3, 13:40). Barrier 1 plus Tommy Berry is the most repeatable edge on the meeting, and Berry’s Gosford record is the real deal: 7 wins from 12.

Value: Acharnee (Race 4, 14:20) each-way. Placed on her only Gosford start and gets Rachel King, who rides this track like she belongs here.

Banker for multis: Proxima Dea (Race 2, 13:05). One start, one win, and David Payne has a serious Gosford strike from a small but meaningful sample: 3 wins from 4 runners.

Each-way anchor: Honeyhill (Race 1, 12:30). The “two-two” recent pattern is exactly what you want in a staying maiden, and Magorrian’s Gosford place rate holds up at 14 rides with 9 placings.

Course angle to keep: keep following Berry at Gosford when he draws a gate that lets him dictate. That’s where his edge becomes brutal, and it’s the kind of pattern that repeats all spring.

FAQ

What time does racing start at Gosford today?

Racing starts at 12:30 with the Brew-B-Q @ Teg 7 Nov 2026 Maiden Plate over 2297m.

Who are the top jockeys at Gosford on today’s card?

On course record with proper sample size, Tommy Berry leads the way at Gosford with 7 wins from 12 rides. C Schofield also stands out, placing 4 times from 6 rides, while K McEvoy and L Magorrian both have 4 wins from 14 rides.

Who are the top trainers at Gosford among the stables engaged today?

C J Waller has the strongest Gosford volume profile in these fields: 26 runners at the track for 5 wins and 11 placings, and he’s represented by Snitzel Miss in Race 4. K A Lees matches Waller for placings (11) from the same 26-run sample, and he saddles It’s Ok and Reschs Milk in Race 1.

What are the best bets at Gosford today?

I’m siding with Temptation in Race 3 (13:40) as the best bet because of barrier 1 and Tommy Berry’s Gosford strike rate. The safer multi horse is Proxima Dea in Race 2 (13:05) off a last-start win, and the each-way play is Acharnee in Race 4 (14:20), placed on her only Gosford run and gets Rachel King.

Where can I find the best odds for Gosford races?

Best approach is to price-shop across your usual bookmakers close to jump time, because this feed didn’t return live odds for today’s Gosford races. For general racing coverage and promos, you can also browse the RacingBase home page and compare your bookies from there.
