Race 7 No. 2 LUDOVISI- ($2.50)

LUDOVISI should be hard to beat in Race 7. The four-year-old was costly as a $1.70 pop at Benalla on September 29 over the 1606m but didn’t enjoy much clear air from the 500m to the 200m before getting out and just peaking on his run. First up over the 1726m at Geelong, the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained galloper was a real eye catcher when 4th. I suspect that he wants the 2000m after his last start and the son of Caravaggio should be ready to peak.

Race 5 No. 13 ODE TO JOY- ($4.85)

ODE TO JOY can go on with the job after resuming with a runner-up performance at Hamilton on September 18. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper settled handy that day but couldn’t quite catch the leader, Moesha, in the closing stages. She enjoyed a three length gap on the 3rd horse. The daughter of Written Tycoon battled in some of the big two-year-old races in the autumn but shouldn’t be a maiden for too long. Early market support and Daniel Moor in the saddle are further ticks, as is barrier 4.
