BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 4 No. 10 MOONFLOWER- ($2.30)

MOONFLOWER gets another chance when she steps out in Race 4. The Godolphin galloper has had the six career starts for five placings. The last two of those have come in her current preparation at Geelong. Last time out, the daughter of Lonhro was supported as a $2.50 favourite and settled worse than midfield but couldn’t reel in the leader. She went 5.3 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. The four-year-old should be at her peak now.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 6 No 4 CYCLONE SALLY – ($6.10)

CYCLONE SALLY can go close in Race 6 if she can reproduce some recent runs. The seven-year-old has endured a bit of a form slump since winning well at Moonee Valley last year but has returned to form in recent times with a win at Cranbourne in a BenchMark 64 before heading to Sandown and running 3rd in a BM70. She led that day before going down late. The Mick Bell-trained mare draws perfectly in barrier 4 and will take some running down.

Race 8 No 5 CONTANTI- ($11)

CONTANTI is worth a bit of thought in Race 8 of the day. The five-year-old battled on resumption at Bendigo but showed improvement on August 28 over the 1200m on the Synthetic at Pakenham when runner-up behind Graysong. He produced the second fastest last 400m and 200m in that race. Form on the turf at his last preparation was sold with four top three finished from five starts, while the son of Choisir should be ready to peak third up.
