Moonee Valley Tips 06/10/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 7 AFFORDABLE- ($3.60)

AFFORDABLE can measure up in Race 4. The four-year-old has won two of five this preparation and was tried over the 2500m at Flemington on September 24. In that race, he loomed up at the 200m mark but just peaked late on his run to finish 3rd. The David Brideoake and Matt Jenkins-trained galloper should be better suited over the 2040m at the Valley and generally likes to settle in the first few. Celine Gaudray rides and claims the 2kg.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 5 REVALENE- ($3.90)

REVALENE can get the job done in the opener at Moonee Valley. The Busuttin & Young galloper has had just the one career start with that coming over the 1000m at Cranbourne on September 21. He showed some nice early speed in that race and was headed by Excess at the 200m mark but stuck on well to fill the exacta, putting a two-length gap on the rest. He can improve off that performance and draws much better this time around in barrier 4, while Damien Oliver stays on board.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 No. 6  CUTE AS- ($17)

Best Value comes up in Race 7 and CUTE AS is worth thought at the each-way quote. The Shane Fliedner-trained filly hasn’t measured up to the 1200m in recent times, finishing well back in a couple much harder than this. But her earlier form was excellent with two wins. Those came over the 1000m and the 1100m so she is unbeaten below the six furlongs. The four-year-old went 2.5 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time, which is the best last start figure of any runner, while she went 7.9 lengths faster over the 1100m earlier this prep, which is a better figure than what any runner in this race has produced. Harry Coffey rides and the pair draw perfectly in barrier 4.
