BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)  

Race 3 No. 3 ROBRICK – ($2.90)

ROBRICK can just about make it back to back wins when he steps out in Race 3 of the day. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper stepped out in a BenchMark 70 on August 5 over the 1400m at Flemington and cruised to a comfortable win ahead of City Thunder. He was rising from the 1200m that day and was strong through the line to go 5.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any runner in this race has produced. He should be suited with his on-pace racing style at the Valley and draws barrier 4 with Mark Zahra to ride. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 4 No 7 HENNESSY LAD – ($3.40)

HENNESSY LAD shapes as a solid player in Race 4 of the day. The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained galloper has had two runs this time in and stuck on well for 4th at Flemington when resuming over the 1400m before rising to the 1620m and finishing a narrow runner-up behind Braydent Star. He settled on the speed that day after working hard early on. The four-year-old comes into this third up and was a four length improver on figures at this stage last time when a close 4th at the Valley before winning at Sandown. With a softer run in the early stages, the son of Belardo can take this out. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 

Race 7 No. 3 INTERPRETATION – ($6)

Liked the run of INTERPRETATION at Moonee Valley on July 29. The Maher/Eustace galloper was first up after taking part in the Melbourne Cup (3200m) last year and settled back in the field of 12 before producing the fastest last 400m en route to filling the minor placings behind The Summit. The son of Galieo strips fitter for this and the step up to the 2040m suits. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 8 No 8 OMNI MAN – ($3.50)

OMNI MAN can make amends after missing out in narrow fashion behind Sweet Ride on August 12. The Waterhouse/Bott galloper missed out at the track and trip a fortnight ago behind Sweet Ride. He was held up at the business end that day and wins with a fraction more luck. He has been up for a while now but shows no signs of slowing down. The son of I Am Invincible has won five of six over the 1000m and might look to push up in the early stages this time around.
