BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)  

Race 8 No. 1 GRAYSONG – ($2.40)

GRAYSONG can measure up in the final race of the day at Pakenham. The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper broke through for his first career win on August 14 over the 1200m here, winning by two lengths from Holy Racket. The four-year-old was strong at the end of that race to go 0.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. He should have some scope for further improvement, while the son of I Am Invincible has the gate speed to overcome the wide barrier. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 1 No 3 DYNAMIC DEEL – ($3.50)

This might be the one for the eight-start Maiden, DYNAMIC DEEL. The Matt Ellerton-trained galloper has finished runner-up in two of his past three and settled handy in a 1600m race on August 14 on the Pakenham Sythetic but couldn’t quite reel in Bob The Horse. He stuck on well that day to go 1.5 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. The four-year-old just needs to get the 2200m and this does look a weak race.
