Queanbeyan Racing Tips 11 Oct 2026 — can Pearler repeat?

Queanbeyan racing tips for Oct 11: one horse screams ‘back me’

There’s a funny little wrinkle at Queanbeyan today. Pearler comes here with a profile that’s either a complete red flag or a gift: a last start win followed by a horror run, and now back to the track where he’s won on his only visit. That’s the sort of setup that makes a meeting worth playing, because plenty of punters will anchor to the ‘0’ in the form and miss the context.

We’ve got three races on the card, all on turf, with the track rated Good to Soft. The distances sit in that practical country range where barriers and speed matter more than big, slow-burning stamina. Below are my Queanbeyan racing tips for the meeting, written the way I’d talk it through with a mate: who maps well, who’s trending, and who I actually want to stake.

Queanbeyan — the setup

Good to Soft usually means you want horses that can hold their spot, travel, and kick again. It can punish the ones that take an age to get balanced, especially when the races are all run around that 1100m to mile window.

Course form is thin across these fields. Outside a few runners with two goes here, most of the “track stats” today are one start, which is a note rather than a pattern. Where it does get meaningful is with the busier riders and stables that come here regularly.

Race-by-race

Race 1: Queanbeyan Leagues Hcp (C1) — 13:20, 1312

The contender for me is Melodia Perfecta. He’s been living in the placings lately and that profile matters on a day where a few of these are either out of form or need everything to fall their way. His recent run of 75232 says he’s holding his level and knocking on the door, and the 1312m looks ideal for a horse that can take a position and then grind.

He draws 6, which is workable, and Amy McLucas is one of the riders on this card with genuine volume here: 3 wins from 14 at Queanbeyan. I also like that he’s already won on his only start at the track. One run is not enough to call it a track horse, but it at least answers the “will he handle it?” question.

The danger is The Adige. He’s the classier resume on paper off that last start win (form ends in …17) and he’s also won on his only go at Queanbeyan. The knock is the weight: he carries 130 and has gate 7, so Mollie Fitzgerald will need to be decisive early, because giving away ground on a softish country deck is how you get beaten while “travelling”.

Staking: Win bet Melodia Perfecta. Small saver on The Adige if the market makes him too hard to ignore.

Race 2: Allbids Country Boosted Mdn Plate — 13:55, 1094

Here’s the puzzle: how do you bet into a 1094m maiden when half the field has shown you they don’t love winning? I want the one that’s at least threatening often, and that points me to Forjori.

He’s been around the mark (form 626) without falling in, but he draws barrier 1 and gets in with 117.9. Over 1094m, that’s a meaningful setup. Glenn Cahill hasn’t won at Queanbeyan from two rides, but he’s managed a placing and this looks a race where riding the rail, holding your spot, and making them come around you can be a proper advantage.

Designed Spindle is the main danger because he’s one of the few in the race with multiple goes at the track, and while the figures aren’t flattering, that experience counts in these muddled maidens. He also brings Q Krogh, who hits the frame more than half the time here from nine rides, which is a solid edge in a race where a lot of jockey bookings are neutral at best.

I’m happy to forgive Highwire Artist a bit too. The 3yo has light exposure (form 6-36), draws 4, and gets Rebecca Bronett Prag, who places 60 percent of the time at this track from five rides. That’s not a huge sample, but it’s enough to say she rides the place-getters here.

Staking: Each-way Forjori. If he’s short enough that the place loses appeal, keep your money and just watch the race for a future follow.

Race 3: Jerrabomberra (Bm58) — 14:30, 1597

The market problem, if one shows up, will be punters overreacting to Pearler reading …10 last start. I want him anyway. He’s got a recent win two starts back, he draws 8 which isn’t pretty but isn’t a death sentence over this trip, and he comes to a track where he won on his only appearance. More important than the one-off track note, he gets Molly Bourke and that combo with trainer G R Nickson has been reliable at this venue: Nickson’s runners here are 2 from 2 for placings with one win, and while that’s still light on volume, it matches what you see in their placement.

There’s also a clear piece of structure in this race: Inna Zou maps to get the cheap run from barrier 1. If Glenn Cahill can hold a spot and turn it into a sit-sprint, he’s the one that makes Pearler work. Inna Zou’s recent form is the best in the field on paper (175812), and over the last 90 days he’s run twice for a win and a placing. That’s a horse in form, not a horse flattering to deceive.

The third player is Rosary Sister. She’s the upside filly in the race (form 5317) and she carries 125.6. Brodie Loy is a serious booking for this level, and if the tempo turns even slightly genuine, she’s the one that can be the last to peak.

Staking: Win bet Pearler. Save on Inna Zou as cover for the barrier 1 map. If Pearler drifts, I’d even consider a win bet plus exacta box with Inna Zou.

The plays

My card position is simple. NAP: Pearler (Race 3, 14:30). I’m backing the “forgive run, back to a track he’s already handled” angle, and I respect the stable’s Queanbeyan output enough to treat it as more than a guess.

Value: Forjori each-way (Race 2, 13:55). Barrier 1 and the light weight are the sort of edges you can actually cash in these short-course maidens, and he’s at least been close enough to win one.

Banker for multis: Melodia Perfecta (Race 1, 13:20) as the safest top-two profile on the day. Four runs in the last 90 days, four placings. He keeps turning up.

Each-way play: Forjori again, because the map and weight give you the place insurance.

Course angle to keep: J M Cleary is the stable you treat seriously at Queanbeyan. He’s got 24 runners here for a 29.17 percent strike and places half of them, and he’s represented in Race 1 with The Adige. Next time you see that name on a country card here, don’t wait for the market to tell you.

If Pierre Boudvillain keeps landing placings at this rate at Queanbeyan, the next time he gets a well-weighted leader he’ll be the “quiet” angle that suddenly isn’t quiet anymore.
