Caulfield Tips 14/10/2023
BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 7 ASFOORA- ($2.40)
Nice race with the sprinters doing battle at Group 2 level in the Schillaci Stakes (1100m). ASFOORA was excellent when resuming with a win at the track and trip on September 2 before bumping into Imperatriz at Group 1 level in the Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley after that, filling the exacta behind the flying Kiwi. The Henry Dwyer mare has gone more than 12.6 lengths faster than standard at her two runs this time in and is unbeaten in two goes at the track and trip. She will take some beating.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9 No. 1 MILITARIZE- ($2.90)
MILITARIZE looks to be the one in the Caulfield Guineas. The Chris Waller-trained galloper comes down after winning the Golden Rose and the Sydneysiders have had the edge over the locals in this race in recent times. Joao Moreira sticks on board and the pair were able to navigate some traffic in the straight at Rosehill before flying home to edge out Encap. The son of Dundeel boasts the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and will thrive getting out to the 1600m. He claimed the Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and Champagne Stakes (1600m) when out in trip as a two-year-old. Barrier 12 isn’t a huge concern with a number of his rivals to go forward or settle handy, ensuring there is enough speed in the race for Moreira to launch at them late in the piece.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4 No. 7 SHE DANCES- ($12)
SHE DANCES can be an improver in Race 4 of the day. The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained mare comes into this second up from a spell and worked across from barrier 14 when resuming over the 1100m here. She was caught three deep before fading late into 7th. Form over the 1200m is much better, winning four from five. One of her better wins came second up off a six-week break back in the autumn when stepping up from the 1100m to the 1200m when winning by more than five lengths at Sandown in the $200,000 VOBIS Gold Dash. The daughter of Street Boss draws much better for this race and it will be no surprise to see her in the finish.
