Race 4 No. 8 RUNNING BY- ($2.50) 

RUNNING BY shapes as a solid prospect in Race 4 of the day at Caulfield. The Maher/Eustace galloper performed well in solid company early in his career and resumed for what was his fifth career start at Sandown on November 29, finishing runner-up over the 1200m behind Son Of Houston. He settled just worse than midfield on what was a slow tempo before closing off strongly. Step up to the 1400m looks perfect and the son of Impending should have enough upside at his second run back to take this out.

Race 9 No. 11  TONNEOFGRIT- ($7) 

TONNEOFGRIT can go close in Race 9. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper resumed at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day over the 1400m and settled just worse than midfield before closing off nicely for 4th behind Pascero. The five-year-old was a noted improver at the second run of his last preparation, going from an 8th at Rosehill to a win at Sandown, improving more than seven lengths on benchmark figures. He has had two starts at the track and trip for a win and a runner-up performance. Jordan Childs ride and the pair draw barrier 5.

Race 10 No. 7 PROWLING- ($9) 

We close off with a BenchMark 84 over the 1200m and PROWLING can go close at the each-way quote. The five-year-old has been close up in better company than this in his two runs this time in, which have both been at Caulfield. He worked home strongly for 4th when resuming in the Village Stakes (1100m) before coming out wide and landing just over a length away behind Ghaanati over the 1200m last time. The five-year-old comes into this with the fitness and draws to get a nice trail from barrier 4 with Daniel Moor to ride.
