Race 10 No. 6 KIN- ($2.70) 

KIN can end the day a winner. The Godolphin galloper has had the two runs this time in for a 5th behind Ray Magnerio down the Flemington straight over the 1100m on Champions Day before heading to Caulfield and running on to fill the exacta behind Boldinho. She drew wide that day and was forced back before producing the fastest last 600m and 400m of the entire meeting to go a very healthy 11.5 lengths faster than standard benchmark. I wouldn’t mind seeing Damian Lane punching up a little closer from the barrier and look to land with some cover. With even luck in the run, the daughter of Impending should be hard to hold out.

Race 9 No. 2  FLYING MEAN-  ($6.50) 

FLYING MEAN can go close in Race 9. The Clinton McDonald-trained galloper has had the two career starts and was solid on debut at the Valley when 3rd over the 1000m before heading to Caulfield on December 14 and finishing runner-up over the 1100m behind Unconquerable. He settled back in that race and was held up at a crucial stage before landing just under a length away, putting a two-length gap on the rest. He might settle a little closer this time around and the step to the 1200m looks perfect. 

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 6 No. 5 SPANISH TIDES- ($15) 

SPANISH TIDES can be an improver in Race 6. The seven-year-old has had two runs this time in and was solid when resuming with a 3rd at Cranbourne over the 1400m on November 25 before heading to Caulfield and placing 8th behind Running By on December 16. She produced the second fastest last 200m in that race and comes into this third up. A previous winner at the track and trip, the Luke Oliver-trained galloper should appreciate a genuine tempo in front of her with the likes of Imperial Lad, Rhinoceros and Soaring Eagle to go forward.
