BRILLIANT VENTURE can bounce back in Race 5. The seven-year-old took a few runs to get going this preparation on Synthetic tracks before hitting the turf at Sale and finishing runner-up in a BenchMark 64 over the 2219m behind Mathew. The Simon Zahra-trained galloper then repeated that effort at Seymour. At his most recent start, he went fast out in front before fading late into 9th position at Geelong over the 2433m. The son of Zacinto drops back to BM58 for this and has attracted plenty of support in the betting. Ryan Houston rides and claims the 2kg.

Race 7 No. 8 SPORTS IDOL- ($6)
SPORTS IDOL can be an improver in Race 7. The locally-trained galloper resumed at Swan Hill on September 19 and settled back in the field of 10 before running home well to finish 4th behind Hay Cliffy. The five-year-old will strip fitter for this and draws to save ground from barrier 2. His two wins have come at the track and the Austy Coffey-trained galloper is another that has been well supported in the betting.
