Autafinna is the one I want to be with, and I want to be with it early. The map does half the work for you: barrier 1 in a 2207m race is gold at this level, because it lets the rider hold a spot, breathe, and make everyone else do the chasing.
The other thing I like is the lack of exposed upside around it. A few of these have been around the houses, and their recent strings read like horses who find trouble more often than they find the line. Autafinna is the opposite profile: lightly exposed, and it’s already placed on its only start at Taree. That’s a data point, not a trend, but it tells you it handles the track.
Danger: Lone Star Dream has the most consistent looking form line in the race (313457) and gets a capable pilot in G Buckley, who rides Taree well enough to keep you out of the nonsense. If this turns into a genuine staying test and the inside runner gets softened up, Lone Star Dream can be the one grinding over the top.

I’m siding with Na Hamah. The form (2-39422) screams “ready”, and the booking of G Buckley at this track is the sort of practical move you want in a short sprint. Buckley doesn’t have to be a magician here either. From barrier 3, Na Hamah should land close enough that it’s not relying on everything going right in the last 100m.
Na Hamah has two runs at Taree for a placing, which again is limited, but it’s at least evidence the horse travels and corners here. Add in the recent consistency and you’ve got the profile of the runner most likely to get the chance to win.
Danger: Dream Invader draws gate 1 and gets Jean Van Overmeire. The jockey’s course record is thin, but the map is obvious: hold the rail, kick, and make the rest come at you. If the leaders control it, the inside can look very attractive.

Race 4: Thank You Cafe Nosh Country Boosted Mdn Hcp — 14:50, 1544m
Two horses, two very different ways to get beat and one of them keeps asking to be backed.
Airburst looks the right play because it keeps running into the placings and it draws to control its own luck. The form line (623242) tells you it’s right there. Barrier 1 tells you it doesn’t need to be a superstar to get the run it wants. And while the recent sample is small, the last 90 days reads beautifully: two runs for two placings, with an average finishing position of 1.0 in that window. You don’t get much more “in the finish” than that.
The Snowden stable also has genuine history at Taree: 12 runners for three winners and seven placings. That’s a stable that places its horses well here, not one that uses the track as a throwaway.
Danger: Sunny Quarters brings the consistent maiden profile too (432) and has three runs at Taree without missing the frame twice, so it’s right in it. The query is barrier 9: it either spends petrol early, or it risks being posted wide at the wrong time.
