Race 4 No. 6 PICKAXE- ($2.30)
PICKAXE should be hard to get past in Race 5 of the day. The Maher/Eustace galloper was scratched from the Cranbourne meeting that was transferred to the Pakenham Synthetic on Wednesday in favour of this. He has had the four career starts for three minor placings and comes in with five weeks in between runs after just fading late in the piece to place 6th behind Rackemann at Sandown over the 1300m on August 30. He went at a solid clip out in front that day. Prior to that, the son of Pierro was runner-up over the 1400m at Sandown. He draws perfectly in barrier 4 for this.

Race 5 No. 4 JEROBI- ($6.50)
JEROBI was an improver at his second career start when stepping out at the track and trip and can land a couple of spots better this time around. The Robbie Griffiths and Matt de Kock-trained galloper battled at Bendigo on debut but stuck on well behind Plenty Of Ammo here last time to place 3rd, going 2.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any runner in this race has produced. Improvement to come at his third start and he should be hard to beat.
