Warrnambool Tips 23/10/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 2 ZAYNUDIN- ($3.10)

This looks to be a winnable assignment for ZAYNUDIN. The imported galloper has had five runs since coming over from Ireland and placed in three of those, including two at Sandown. He has had eight weeks in between runs but does look to have a bit of a class edge on this lot. The five-year-old draws to do no work and just needs to stay in touch with them in the early to middle stages to fight this one out.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 14 SHEEZAHIFLYA- ($5.25)

Some unknowns here with a handful of first starters in action but willing to have something on SHEEZAHIFLYA after a debut effort that saw her finish runner-up behind Prince Of Fire over the 1000m at the ‘Bool on October 6. On that occasion, the Andrew Bobbin-trained filly settled in a midfield position and was strong to the line, missing out by less than half a length and putting a gap on the rest of them. The daughter of Alpine Eagle went 5.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner. She produced the fastest last 200m and the step up to the 1100m should suit. Jaylah Kennedy rides and claims the 3kg.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9 No. 6 LORD TURNBURY- ($5.75)

LORD TURNBURY can end the day a winner. The four-year-old has had two runs this time in and made late ground over the unsuitable 1200m when resuming with an 8th at Warrnambool behind Deprivation before stepping up to the 1400m at the same track and closing off well for 5th behind Splash Back, beaten one length. He was posted three wide without cover that day but kept coming. Third up at his last preparation, the Aaron Purcell-trained galloper improved eight lengths on benchmark figures when 5th in a BenchMark 64 at Stawell. John Allen takes the ride and the pair should be strong late in the piece.
