The danger is Tiger Turf, because the form says he’s right on the doorstep (5 and 2) and he’s already banked a placing from two runs in the current window we can see. The 3yo brings upside into a Benchmark 72, he’s strung wins together (0-211), and at 1750m I’d rather be with the progressive profile than the six-year-olds trying to rediscover it under big weights.
He draws 7, which is workable, and Tom Sherry can give him the kind of economical run you want at this trip. The recent form stats are loud enough to act on: in the date window we pulled, Pappa Blue has had 3 runs for 2 wins and he’s placed every time. That’s not a promise he repeats it today, but it tells you he’s turning up to the races ready to win, not just to “run well”.
The obvious danger is Oso Spirited. He won last start and he’s won on his only Warwick Farm appearance, so there’s no track question mark. Waterhouse and Bott also have the farm on speed horses at this venue, and Rachel King rides well here too. If Oso Spirited gets the first crack at them and controls the tempo, he can pinch it.
As for the rest: Scalextrics gets the rails (1) and Rawiller always adds intent, but the recent form reads like he’s stuck in the mud (5-9966). Mornington Pier shoulders 131.1 and needs to be much sharper late than he’s been.
