Overview
Moscow Maid comes to Wyong with every box ticked for a stable that treats this track like home. The Hawkes team has won with five of its ten runners here, and Tyler Schiller has ridden three of those winners from five rides for them. She has placed in all three of her starts in the past 90 days, and at $3.00 with Bet Right in Race 2 she is the bet we like most on the card.
That is the hook for our Wyong racing tips on Thursday 29 October, but there is plenty more to work through. Eight races on a turf track rated Good to Soft, starting at 1:15PM with a 2324m staying handicap and finishing with a 1777m Benchmark 64 at 5:35PM. Two maidens in the middle of the card are thin on form and light on markets, so we will be honest about where the confidence drops. Read on for a race-by-race view, the course stats that matter, and where we would put the money.
Reading the Wyong card
Course form across today’s fields is thin. Only three horses have three or more starts at Wyong, and most of the rest have one or two. The jockey and trainer numbers carry far more weight here.
Horses with three or more Wyong starts
| Horse | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grunge | 3 | 1 | 2 | 33% | 67% |
| He’s Cool | 4 | 2 | 2 | 50% | 50% |
| Cha Cha Cha | 4 | 0 | 1 | 0% | 25% |
Jockeys at Wyong (five or more rides)
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zac Lloyd | 29 | 7 | 17 | 24% | 59% |
| J R Collett | 21 | 3 | 12 | 14% | 57% |
| Tyler Schiller | 18 | 5 | 10 | 28% | 56% |
| Regan Bayliss | 25 | 3 | 14 | 12% | 56% |
| Tom Sherry | 20 | 4 | 11 | 20% | 55% |
| S Clipperton | 17 | 4 | 9 | 24% | 53% |
| L Magorrian | 44 | 7 | 20 | 16% | 45% |
Trainers at Wyong
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| M, W & J Hawkes | 10 | 5 | 7 | 50% | 70% |
| Peter Snowden | 20 | 4 | 13 | 20% | 65% |
| Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald | 37 | 9 | 22 | 24% | 59% |
| Nathan Doyle | 20 | 3 | 11 | 15% | 55% |
| Matthew Smith | 45 | 7 | 22 | 16% | 49% |
| C J Waller | 61 | 10 | 28 | 16% | 46% |
| Brad Widdup | 44 | 12 | 20 | 27% | 45% |
Two things jump out. Zac Lloyd hits the frame with almost six in every ten rides here, and he picks up three of the Matthew Smith runners today. And the Hawkes stable only sends a handful to Wyong, but when it does, half of them win.

Wyong predictions, race by race
Race 1: Sal – App – Electra – Trader (Bm64), 1:15PM, 2324m
Can’t Recall One is the one to beat over this trip, and the booking explains why. Zac Lloyd and Matthew Smith have teamed up 43 times for 13 wins and 27 placings, and Lloyd’s own Wyong numbers sit near the top of the table above. The horse has placed three times from six runs in the past 90 days with a win among them, and the form line 003183 shows a win and two thirds among the last four runs. Over 2324m on a soft surface, a horse that keeps finding the frame is worth a lot.
Fioprospero is the danger. It has won one and placed twice from four runs in the past 90 days and sits at $5.50 with Bet Right. Serpico won one of its two Wyong starts but has missed the placings in all four runs this preparation.
At $2.80 with Bet Right, Can’t Recall One is short but fair. Win bet.
Race 2: Prysmian Cables Hcp (C1), 1:50PM, 1312m
Royal Silver heads the market at $2.40 with Unibet, but the question is whether a horse coming off a ninth deserves to be that short. Its form line 2419 shows ability, yet the last run is the one punters are ignoring.
Moscow Maid is our answer. She has placed in all three runs in the past 90 days, winning one of them, and her form line 7143 is building the right way. The Hawkes stable has won with half of its ten Wyong runners and placed with seven, and Tyler Schiller has three wins and four placings from five rides for them at this track. That is not a fluke booking. Schiller also wins more than a quarter of his own rides here.
Erin Jo at $5.00 rates as the next best, but Royal Silver remains the main danger if the last start was a blip. Back Moscow Maid to win at $3.00 with Bet Right. This is our NAP.
Race 3: Haneco – Gts – Hpm Legrand Hcp (C1), 2:25PM, 1312m
Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald have won nine and placed 22 times from 37 Wyong runners, and Marchon gives them a horse in form to keep that going. Two seconds at the last two runs (form 5-41322) say he is close to another win, and Braith Nock has a win and two placings from three rides for the stable here.
Senjutsu at $3.30 with Unibet is the obvious threat. Bjorn Baker‘s runner has J R Collett aboard from the inside gate, and a fourth then a second this campaign reads well. Jaguar Paw won its last start but returns from a break with Zac Lloyd riding.
The price we like is lower in the order. Fawlty Affairs has won once and placed twice from four runs in the past 90 days, with an average finish of 3.5, and comes off a second. At $16.00 with Unibet that looks generous for a horse so consistent.
Marchon to win at $2.80 with Unibet. Fawlty Affairs each-way as a saver.
Race 4: Schneider – Atkore – Pipemakers Super Mdn Plate, 3:05PM, 1203m
The market has unraced Mayflower at $2.80 with Unibet, which prices in the stable and J R Collett but nothing proven on the track. Brutal Advance has the opposite profile: three runs in the past 90 days, three placings, and three straight seconds on his form line 43-222. He has shown he can run a race. He just has not won one.
At $12.00 with Bet Right, that is too big for a horse that keeps landing in the first three. C Lever rides for K J Parker from gate eight. Benson at $4.40 ran second on debut and is the more obvious danger, with C Schofield aboard for John Thompson.
Brutal Advance each-way. If Mayflower is as good as the price says, the place still pays.
Race 5: Hunter Pacific – Matchmaster – Omni Mdn Plate, 3:40PM, 1777m
No market was open for this one when we wrote, so this is a form read only. Made In Italy has the most solid case. Three runs in the past 90 days produced two placings and an average finish of 3.33, and the full form line 323325 shows a horse that keeps turning up. C Schofield rides for Matthew Smith from gate five.
Almaaz is the danger. Chris Waller‘s runner has placed in both of its Wyong starts, and S Clipperton wins about a quarter of his rides here. Gate 15 is the problem over 1777m. March, third on debut for the Hawkes stable with Tyler Schiller, is the light-form runner to keep an eye on.
Small win bet on Made In Italy once a price appears. Watch Almaaz in the run.
Race 6: Go Electrical Midway Mdn Hcp, 4:20PM, 1094m
Hard to have a confident view here. Most of the field is unraced or has one start, and there were no prices when this was written. If forced, Busy Bee, who ran second at two of three starts before a fifth last time. L Magorrian has won seven from 44 rides at Wyong and gets the call for M S Minervini.
Classy Go Go ran fourth at its only start and has G Buckley riding. Watch race, no bet.
Race 7: Klein Tools – Evolt – Omega Power Provincial (Bm68), 4:55PM, 1094m
Emalyn grinds; Harry The Thief sprints from the front. That contrast decides this one. Emalyn has had two runs in the past 90 days for a win and a second, and her form line 722312 has her right in the zone. Liberty Smyth rides for Nathan Doyle, whose runners place more than half the time at Wyong.
Harry The Thief won at his only run in the past 90 days and placed at his one Wyong start. From gate nine with Siena Grima, he needs to cross to lead. He’s Cool has won two of his four Wyong starts, but he finished eighth last time and needs to bounce back.
Emalyn to win once markets open. He’s Cool is a saver for those who trust the track record.
Race 8: Cabac – Martec – Hager (Bm64), 5:35PM, 1777m
Chris Waller sends two here, and Unbridled Storm is the one with the jockey to match. J R Collett has ridden for Waller three times at Wyong, winning once and placing every time. The horse itself has placed in three of four runs in the past 90 days with a win, at an average finish of 2.5, and the form line 7-2143 shows a third last time. Over 1777m on a soft track, that profile fits.
Grunge is the danger. He has won once and placed twice from three Wyong starts and has Tyler Schiller riding for Marc Chevalier, though the last run was an eighth. Blue Eyed Brigid placed in both of her runs in the past 90 days for Brad Widdup, whose strike rate here is the best of the big stables at 27%.
Unbridled Storm to win. Grunge in exotics.

Where the money goes
NAP: Moscow Maid (Race 2, 1:50PM). Three placings from three runs this time in, and a stable and rider who win at Wyong at a rate nobody else on the card can match. $3.00 with Bet Right.
Value: Brutal Advance (Race 4, 3:05PM). Three seconds in a row and still a maiden, at $12.00 with Bet Right against an unraced favourite. The place alone looks good value.
Banker: Marchon (Race 3, 2:25PM). Two seconds on the trot and a stable that places almost six in every ten Wyong runners. $2.80 with Unibet.
Each-way: Fawlty Affairs (Race 3, 2:25PM). Average finish of 3.5 across four runs in the past 90 days and $16.00 with Unibet.
Course angle: Tyler Schiller for the Hawkes stable. Three wins from five rides together at Wyong, and they combine twice today with Moscow Maid and March.
If the Hawkes team keeps picking its Wyong spots this carefully, its runners will be worth following here every time they turn up.
