Overview
Our Lady Peace has finished second, third, second and second at her last four starts, and on Monday she drops into a 1094m maiden at Corowa as the $2.45 favourite. She has done everything but win, and this looks the softest chance she has had. That is our lead for today’s Corowa racing tips.
The card has seven races on a Good track, starting at 1:35PM and finishing at 5:10PM. The first four had prices up when this was written; the last three did not. Three maidens open the day, followed by a BM66 sprint, two BM58s and a Class 1 to finish. Matthew Kelley and C Keatings team up twice early, and B McDougall, who places in close to two thirds of his Corowa rides, has six rides. Read on for the course numbers, a view on all seven races, and where the money goes.
Reading the Corowa card
Limited course form across today’s fields: no runner has more than two Corowa starts, so the horse numbers carry little weight. The riders and stables are where the track experience sits.

Corowa race by race
Race 1: De Bortoli Wines, Rutherglen Mdn Hcp, 1:35PM, 1750m
Hellfighter has placed in three of his four runs over the last 90 days, and his recent sequence reads 6-2-3-2-5. He is a maiden that keeps hitting the frame, and the 1750m of this race gives him every chance. Matthew Kelley trains him and C Keatings rides.
Barrier 11 is the knock, because he will need some luck from out there. Dei Miracoli is the one to fear: he draws barrier 1, has run 2-4-4 in three career starts, and is $7.00 with Bet Right. Ashen Knight shares favouritism with Hellfighter at $3.50, but his last six runs have produced no better than a third.
Hellfighter at $3.50 with Unibet to win. Dei Miracoli is worth a small each-way bet at the price.
Race 2: Corowa Machinery Services Country Boosted Mdn Plate, 2:10PM, 1422m
The market says first starter Kinduku at $2.60. We would rather have the horse that has shown something. Gold Decree has run second, second and fourth at her last three starts, and she placed at her only Corowa start. Brittany Button rides for P Mcvicar.
Kinduku is the unknown, and Pierre Boudvillain hits the frame in more than four of every ten rides here, so nobody should be shocked if the debutant wins. Duke Of Zhou, also from the Mcvicar stable, gets B McDougall and has two placings from three recent runs.
Gold Decree at $2.80 with Unibet, win only.
Race 3: Federation Tree Care Mdn Plate, 2:45PM, 1094m
Second, third, second, second. Our Lady Peace has been knocking on the door for a while, and a 1094m maiden at Corowa is a good place for the door to open. She is $2.45 with Bet Right for Matthew Kelley and C Keatings.
She draws barrier 11 in a field of twelve, so Keatings may have to go forward early or sit back and wait for the gaps. No Ordinary Show is the danger after a fourth and a third, and she is $6.00 with Unibet. Inspiring has Brodie Loy, who wins almost a third of his rides here, but her recent form is weak.
Win bet on Our Lady Peace. She is the horse on this card most likely to win.
Race 4: Naughtin Developments (Bm66), 3:20PM, 1094m
Trooper won three in a row before a sixth last time, and the market has forgiven him that run at $2.60 with Bet Right. Is that right? We think so, but only just. Three straight wins means he has more ability than most of this field, and barrier 3 keeps him out of trouble in a 1094m sprint.
Jugiong won at his only Corowa start and is $3.30 with Unibet. The interesting one is Pretty Panther, who won her only start and is $11.00 with Unibet. One run is not much to go on, but anything that wins first time out has some ability.
Trooper to win, with a small saver on Pretty Panther.
Race 5: Federation Stell And Industrial Country Boosted (Bm58), 3:55PM, 1422m
D Scott wins a third of the stable’s Corowa races, and Doubtfree is the only runner today. Doubtfree won last start, placed at the only previous Corowa run, and has a win and a placing from two runs in the last 90 days.
Vinari is the danger. His trainer N J Olive has two winners from three runners here, and Vinari has won once and placed twice from four recent starts. Sundrop is the consistent one, placing in five of her last seven runs, but she has won only one of them.
No prices were up at the time of writing. Doubtfree to win once the market opens, and Sundrop is worth a place bet.
Race 6: Balldale Hotel (Bm58), 4:35PM, 1750m
Wambeen against Ferrari Man. Both won their last start; the question is which form suits 1750m. Wambeen has the better draw from barrier 1, has won once and placed twice from three recent starts, and placed at his only Corowa start. C J Parish, who places in half his rides here, should get the perfect run on the fence.
Ferrari Man has more racing behind him, with a win and three placings from six runs in the last 90 days. Desert Opal is the outsider worth a look because K A Davison has placed with four of five runners here.
Wambeen to win once prices are up. Ferrari Man in the exacta.
Race 7: Waldron’s Corowa Iga Hcp (C1), 5:10PM, 1531m
Shapenapit has run second, third, first, fourth, second and second in his last six starts. He is the kind of horse that is always in the finish, and that makes him an easy each-way bet in a Class 1. B McDougall rides from barrier 2, and McDougall places in almost two of every three rides here.
The danger is Flying Maurice, who won his first start and then ran eighth. Emma Ly rides, with a win and two placings from four rides here. Sensesational Star has plenty of recent racing but has won only one of seven.
No prices at the time of writing. Shapenapit each-way.

Where the money goes
NAP: Our Lady Peace (Race 3, 2:45PM). $2.45 with Bet Right. Four placings in a row and a soft maiden to finish the job. If she does not win here, it will be the barrier rather than ability that beat her.
Value: Dei Miracoli (Race 1, 1:35PM). $7.00 with Bet Right. Barrier 1 and two placings from three starts. That is a decent profile for a 1750m maiden at that price.
Banker: Gold Decree (Race 2, 2:10PM). $2.80 with Unibet. Two seconds and a fourth at her last three starts, plus a placing at Corowa. She has shown enough to be the multi leg.
Each-way: Shapenapit (Race 7, 5:10PM). Placed in five of his last six, with McDougall riding.
Course angle: D Scott and B McDougall. Scott wins a third of Corowa races and McDougall places in almost two thirds of his rides. Doubtfree in Race 5 is the stable’s only runner.
If Kelley and Keatings win both of the early races, they will be the combination to follow next time Corowa races.
