Overview
Bills Angel comes to Lismore having won two of six runs this campaign and placed in four, and the one time it raced here it won. That is the standout profile on a seven-race Monday card that is otherwise full of Benchmark 58 types and maidens still working out what they are.
The track is rated Good to Soft and the races run from 1120m up to a 2120m staying test, with the first jumping at 2:10PM. Our Lismore racing tips lean heavily on a few things: the M J Dunn stable’s strike rate here, a couple of consistent mares who keep hitting the frame, and the fact that only Race 1 had a bookmaker market up when this was written. Scratchings have already thinned the card, with Thunderous out of the last and Summer Stunner gone from Race 5, which reshapes both races. Read on for the setup, every race, and where we would put the money.
Lismore racing tips: reading the card
Limited course form across today’s fields. Nobody running has more than two starts at Lismore, so the horse-by-horse course record is a nudge rather than a verdict. Warrior Bae has placed in both visits here, Bills Angel won on its only start at the track, and Quality Miss, Chief Of Staff and Miss Wildcat each placed on their one Lismore outing.
The riders and stables carry more weight. M J Dunn has sent 25 runners to Lismore for five wins and 17 placings, so better than two in three of the stable’s runners here run a place. Stephen & Jordan Lee have six runners on the card and a solid record at the track as well.

D L Turner is the quirk worth knowing: six placings from seven rides without a win, and the ride today is Anderlyn in Race 2 for the Lee stable, which makes that horse a natural for the exotics.

Race-by-race Lismore predictions
Race 1: Lismore Paint Centre Country Boosted Mdn Hcp, 2:10PM, 1120m
The market has I Am Merida at $2.05 with Unibet, and that is a big call on a horse whose only start produced a ninth. The case for it is the connections. M J Dunn and A Mallyon have teamed up 130 times for 26 wins and 71 placings, and Dunn’s Lismore record says the stable does not waste trips here. Still, at that price you are paying for the stable, not for anything the horse has shown in a race.
Parting The Seas is the one with actual form to stand on. It has run third and fourth in its two runs over the last three months and draws barrier 4 under L P Rolls, who has won one and placed in two from three Lismore rides. At $3.70 with Bet Right it offers more than the favourite does. Tsukahara, a first starter from the same Dunn yard, is the wildcard at $6.00.
Parting The Seas each-way. Saver on I Am Merida only if you want the stable covered.
Race 2: Viva Racing Mdn Plate, 2:45PM, 1420m
Does Anderlyn finally get there? The form line reads 8-5-4-2, steady improvement each time, and the last run was the closest yet. Barrier 2 gives D L Turner every chance to save ground, and Turner’s Lismore record of six placings from seven rides says the money is usually there even when the win is not.
Follow That Dream ran second in its recent sequence and draws the inside. It is the most likely to spoil things. Naystar, having just its second start for the Dunn and Mallyon partnership, will improve but was sixth first time.
No market was open when this was written. Anderlyn to win, with Follow That Dream in the quinella.
Race 3: Lismore Workers Club (Bm58), 3:25PM, 2120m
This is the race of the day for us. Bills Angel has won two of six runs over the last three months, placed in four of them, and collected $42,360 along the way, which is serious money at this grade. It also won on its only previous Lismore start. Declan Maher has had one Lismore runner and it won, and Kyle Wilson-Taylor has three placings from four rides at the track, one of them a win.
The 2120m trip suits a horse that has been finishing its races, and barrier 7 is no drama over a distance where there is time to find cover. With the higher weights carried by Justice Served and Sun Topaze, Bills Angel gets a handy balance of fitness and weight.
Quality Miss is the danger, with a win and three placings from five runs this campaign, a placing on its one visit here and a light weight. Sun Topaze has a win in its last six as well but has been less reliable.
Win bet on Bills Angel. Quality Miss for the exacta underneath.
Race 4: Thomas Noble & Russell Country Boosted (Bm58), 4:05PM, 1320m
D L Matts sends two last-start winners here, and that is the story of the race. Lolita has won two of five runs this campaign and Jai Williams takes the ride, with a Lismore record of a win every four rides and a place in nearly two thirds. City Of Tears also arrives off a win but has one victory from six recent runs, and Grace Palmer has not placed from four Lismore rides.
The worry with Lolita is barrier 9 in a nine-horse field over 1320m. Williams will need to decide early whether to push forward or drop in.
Warrior Bae is the one that keeps turning up. Placed in both Lismore starts and in three of four runs recently, it is a Dunn runner from barrier 4, though Paige Fergusson-Smith is in the saddle rather than Mallyon. It has not won lately, which is why it suits a place bet better than a win bet.
Lolita to win, Warrior Bae for the place.
Race 5: Hlb Mann Judd Hcp (C1), 4:40PM, 1220m
She’s A Dame has placed in four of five runs over the last three months, including a win, and averages a finishing spot just over third. That is the most consistent profile in the race, and barrier 3 with a light weight makes life easy for D Peisley, who has two wins and five placings from 14 Lismore rides.
Revamped is the obvious threat. It has a win and two placings from three recent runs, but it carries top weight in a Class 1 and comes off a second. Military Legend placed on its only Lismore start and has a win in its last three, and it has the lightest weight on the card, so it could be the one that runs on late.
With Summer Stunner scratched, the field loses its only previous course winner. She’s A Dame is our banker for the multis and a straight win bet in its own right.
Race 6: Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (Bm66), 5:15PM, 1536m
Chief Of Staff won last time out, placed in two of three runs over the last three months and ran a place in its only Lismore start. That’s the M J Dunn stable again with Mallyon aboard, and the pair have one win and four placings from seven rides together at this track. Barrier 5 in a seven-horse field after the scratchings of Bold Hoi Ho and Ludik is a fair draw.
Venom Wolf has a win in its last four but was seventh most recently, while Barello has placed twice from four runs and draws the rail for William Galloway. Of the two, Venom Wolf has the higher ceiling and gets Jai Williams.
Chief Of Staff to win, small saver on Venom Wolf.
Race 7: Katrina Beohm Real Estate (Bm58), 5:55PM, 1120m
Thunderous coming out changes this race. Kyle Wilson-Taylor had two Marcus Wilson runners to choose from, and the ride goes to Miss Wildcat. Miss Wildcat‘s average finishing position over four recent runs is second, with a win and two placings, and the one Lismore start produced a placing. Marcus Wilson places with more than seven in ten Lismore runners without yet landing a win, so the stable profile is about reliability rather than strike rate.
Copenhagen Cat is the danger. A recent winner for Stephen & Jordan Lee, it has a win and two placings from three runs this campaign and comes in well under the topweights.
Miss Wildcat to win, Copenhagen Cat in the quinella.

Where the money goes
NAP: Bills Angel (Race 3, 3:25PM). Two wins and four placings in six runs, plus a win on its only trip to Lismore. It is the best form horse on the card in a race where the rest are inconsistent.
Value: Parting The Seas (Race 1, 2:10PM). $3.70 with Bet Right against a favourite at $2.05 that was ninth on debut. One has run third and fourth recently; the other has the stable name.
Banker: She’s A Dame (Race 5, 4:40PM). Placed in four of five runs this campaign, a kind draw and a light weight. The anchor leg for the quaddie.
Each-way: Warrior Bae (Race 4, 4:05PM). Placed in both Lismore starts and three of its last four runs. It keeps finding the frame.
Course angle: M J Dunn runners at Lismore. Seventeen placings from 25 starters here, and today’s team is I Am Merida, Tsukahara, Naystar, Warrior Bae and Chief Of Staff on the card.
If Dunn keeps placing two in three Lismore runners, the Dunn name on the card should be the first thing anyone checks before the quaddie.
