BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No. 2  SNOWBELLA  ($3  bet365)

Locally-trained by Mitch Beer, SNOWBELLA is second-up today and ticks all the boxes to suggest she is the best winning chance in this event. Last start, the So You Think mare was fresh off a 17-week break when she beat all but one to the line in a BM58 Hcp, here over 1183m. On a Heavy 8 that day, she ran the trip out, 5.8 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. She maps to be box-setting today from gate three and will strip fitter for that first-up run. She boasts a strong home-track record with three wins and four runner-up finishes coming from her seven starts here to date. Already a winner when second-up, she will take beating today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No. 1  WHISPERING TYCOON  ($4.80  Unibet)

The Lindsay Park galloper WHISPERING TYCOON has been in consistently good form this preparation and all going well, he looks on-track for another victory today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over the 1000m sprint on the synthetic track at Pakenham. He ran his last 600m, 2.5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this field. He sees the Albury track for the first time today and from gate three, gets the gun-run as he maps to be box-seating on settling. Jake Duffy gets his second chance to pull off a win with him here and from a good gate, the three-year-old galloper has strong claims to achieve that goal.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No. 8  SHINY ROCK  ($8.50  Palmerbet)

The Wangaratta-based SHINY ROCK has celebrated victory here before and his current form suggests he will have a strong hand in proceedings today at good odds. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding proved too good for them in a BM0-58 Hcp over 1590m on his home track. He ran the last 600m, 2.2 lengths quicker than benchmark that day, the best here by 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with a trouble-free run, he can looks a genuine chance in this field. This contest looks no harder and now that he has found his mojo, an each-way ticket is on the cards today.
