Overview
Addictive Dream has won three of five starts over the last 90 days, including the most recent one, and that makes the York closer at 5:35PM the race to build Sunday around.
It is a country Sunday in the WA wheatbelt: eight races on turf rated Good, first jump 1:25PM local time and the last at 5:35PM, with the Tabtouch York Cup over 1920m as race seven. These York racing tips work through every race with a firm view where the form allows one and an honest pass where it doesn’t. The course data is thin for horses but useful for riders and stables, and a couple of trainers have been strike-weapons here. No bookmaker had the meeting priced when this was written, so there are no odds quoted below. Treat the staking lines as a guide and check the market before the jump.
York today: who knows the track
Only six of today’s runners have three or more starts at York, and one of those (Going Hard) has been scratched. The rest have had one or two looks at the place at most. Here is what the regulars have done.
| Horse | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Royale | 5 | 1 | 4 | 20% | 80% |
| I’m Eugene | 5 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 40% |
| Saucisson | 4 | 1 | 2 | 25% | 50% |
| Sky River | 4 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 50% |
| Asarka | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0% | 33% |
The riding stats carry more weight. Sharni Webster has ridden here more than anyone in today’s jockeys’ room, and Laqdar Ramoly has the best mix of volume and wins.
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brayden Gaerth | 6 | 1 | 4 | 17% | 67% |
| Jordan Turner | 5 | 0 | 3 | 0% | 60% |
| Laqdar Ramoly | 11 | 3 | 6 | 27% | 55% |
| Taj Dyson | 9 | 1 | 4 | 11% | 44% |
| Giaan O’Donnell | 7 | 1 | 3 | 14% | 43% |
| Sharni Webster | 19 | 2 | 8 | 11% | 42% |
| Jefferson Tsang | 14 | 2 | 5 | 14% | 36% |
| T Turner | 15 | 3 | 4 | 20% | 27% |
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MS J Kelly | 5 | 1 | 4 | 20% | 80% |
| Rhys Radford | 8 | 1 | 5 | 13% | 63% |
| B P Graham | 6 | 0 | 3 | 0% | 50% |
| MS K d’Orsogna | 10 | 1 | 4 | 10% | 40% |
| Mitchell Pateman | 8 | 3 | 3 | 38% | 38% |
| N D Parnham | 19 | 4 | 7 | 21% | 37% |
| Mack Hall | 33 | 1 | 12 | 3% | 36% |
Two numbers stand out. Mitchell Pateman has won with three of his eight York runners, and every one of his placings here has been a win. Mack Hall brings the biggest team, six runners, on the back of 33 York starts that have produced plenty of placings and a single win, so his horses run on rather than finish it off.

York racing tips, race by race
Race 1: Real Punters Play Here (Bm46+), 1:25PM, 1100m
Casino Royale opens the card in the right shape. The form line 195331 shows a horse that has been in the first three at three of its last four, finishing with a win, and over the last 90 days it has placed three times from four starts. Sharni Webster knows the track better than anyone riding today, and from barrier seven in a field cut to six by the scratching of Zenique, the draw is not the worry it would be in a full field.
The danger has the York numbers rather than the recent form. Classic Royale has finished in the first three in four of five starts here, and Jason Li jumps from the inside gate. The 612628 line has been patchy lately, which is why it sits second on this page. Invincible Ruby ran fourth at its only start in the last 90 days and is the third on the list.
Win bet on Casino Royale, with a small saver on Classic Royale.
Race 2: Mates Rates Painting & Maintenance Mdn Hcp, 2:00PM, 1200m
How many of these maidens actually want to win? Not many, on the evidence, which is why Our Mane Man stands out. It has placed in three of four starts across the last 90 days, without getting its head in front, and J Whiting rides for L P Luciani from barrier 15. The wide gate is the knock, so Whiting will need luck or a bold ride from out there.
Carbarlott is the obvious danger. It has had just two starts, a fifth and then a second, and Sharni Webster picks up the ride for Josh Brown. That second run says it has improved and it might keep going forward. Greyt Ruby (Rhys Radford, who places with five of his eight York runners) is the next best.
Each-way on Our Mane Man. A maiden that keeps placing is not a win-only proposition.
Race 3: D & A Plumbing And Gas Mdn Hcp, 2:40PM, 1500m
The booking is the story here. Laqdar Ramoly has won three of his 11 York rides and placed in more than half of them, and he partners Mr Universe, who comes off back-to-back thirds and has placed twice from three starts in the last 90 days. Barrier seven is fine with Going Hard scratched.
Diamond Choux has had more chances (seven starts in 90 days for two placings) and the most recent was a fourth. C Johnston-Porter has ridden three winners from four rides at York, a small sample but a live one. Yoi Uma, fourth at its only start, is the unexposed runner.
Win bet on Mr Universe.
Race 4: MW Horseshoe & Farrier Supplies (Bm46+), 3:15PM, 1920m
Two different profiles meet over the trip. Asarka grinds: the 577001 form line ends with a win, and Kate Pateman has the inside gate to save ground over 1920m. Awesome Force is consistent without winning, four placings from seven starts in 90 days and no wins.
That last stat is why Asarka gets the vote. B P Graham‘s York runners have placed in half their starts, and Asarka has run once in the first three from three tries here, so this is not new territory. Awesome Force, with Joey Azzopardi, is the natural place bet and the danger if Asarka can’t back up. Side Show finished third last start and has a win in its last four.
Small win bet on Asarka, Awesome Force in the trifecta.
Race 5: Wittens Irrigation (Bm52+), 3:50PM, 1100m
Scream has won both starts at York, both for G F Webster, and Sharni Webster rides. On paper that’s the horse. The problem is the 0 at the end of the 115610 line and the fact that it carries top weight.
So the pick is Wiluna Lass. It has won twice and placed three times from four starts in the last 90 days, the best recent record in the race, and gets in far lighter than Scream. Kayla Martin rides for Josh Brown from barrier six. If Scream bounces back from that last run it is the one to beat, so this is a race to have both on side.
Win bet on Wiluna Lass, saver on Scream.
Race 6: Darry’s Plumbing (Bm52+), 4:25PM, 1500m
Mitchell Pateman doesn’t bring many to York, but when he does they win. Three of his eight runners here have saluted, and Polyvanova has a York win of its own from two course starts. Giaan O’Donnell rides from barrier two. It has placed twice from five starts in the last 90 days, though the last of them was an eighth.
The danger is Sky River for N D Parnham, who has trained four winners from 19 York runners. Sky River has placed twice from four York starts without winning, and Laqdar Ramoly rides from the inside. Cherokee Miss won here on one of two visits and has a win in its recent form, but its last start was a fifth.
Win bet on Polyvanova.
Race 7: Tabtouch York Cup (Bm72+), 5:00PM, 1920m
The cup is the most even race on the card, and it is also where the best place profile on the day sits. Decoration has finished in the first three in four of five starts across the last 90 days, with two wins, and the 061313 line shows the horse hasn’t been out of the frame since that sixth. Jarrad Noske rides for D & B Pearce from barrier six.
Michael Grantham has two in it. Arcadia Knight has a win in the last 90 days and Holler Nuff gets C Johnston-Porter. Atlantis Beach and Got Lucky both won their last start, and Got Lucky draws the rail. Any of them could beat Decoration if the tempo suits a closer.
Decoration is the most likely to run a place in a race full of chances. Win and place on Decoration, and use it as the base of the trifecta.
Race 8: Rose Of York 1st Of March 2027 (Bm46+), 5:35PM, 1300m
This is the one. Addictive Dream comes in with the form of the meeting: three wins from five starts in the last 90 days, the last one included, and the line 591141 shows a horse that has hit form and stayed there. R J Malpass and Tara Atherden keep the ride, and barrier eight from ten is manageable at 1300m.
Wuigi is the danger with a York record. It won its only start here, and trainer Kirsten Melis has had two winners from three runners at the course. The recent form is less convincing (no placing in three starts over the last 90 days), but a return to York could be what it needs. Leg Godt has a win in its last three.
Win bet on Addictive Dream, the best of the day.

Where the money goes
NAP: Addictive Dream (Race 8, 5:35PM). Three wins from five recent starts, including the latest. Nothing else on the card comes in with that sort of momentum.
Value: Wuigi (Race 8, 5:35PM). The recent form will keep it out of the market, but it won its only York start and Kirsten Melis has won with two of three runners here. Prices were not available when this was written.
Banker: Decoration (Race 7, 5:00PM). Four placings from five recent starts makes it the safest leg for multis.
Each-way: Our Mane Man (Race 2, 2:00PM). Three placings from four recent starts in a weak maiden.
Course angle: Mitchell Pateman. Three winners from eight York runners, and Polyvanova in Race 6 is his best chance today.
If Pateman keeps landing his York runners at this rate, his name on a York acceptance list will be worth noticing every time.
