Ararat Tips 20/4/2023

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 3 No. 6 TUSCAN SUN- ($1.90)

TUSCAN SUN can break through in Race 3 of the day. The Mitchell Freedman-trained galloper has had three career starts and has improved with each one, placing at his latest at Ballarat behind Power Missile over the 1400m. He attracted support in the market in the March 28 affair and settled three deep before sticking on in a race that has provided a couple of winners. The son of Cable Bay went 3.7 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is three lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The blinkers go on this time around and he can lead or box seat from the inside barrier.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 4 No 8 PASHEONA- ($4.40)

PASHEONA gets her chance in Race 4. The Maher/Eustace filly has placed in three of four and narrowly went down in a blanket finish at her most recent start when 3rd behind Stateswoman at Kilmore over the 1200m. She settled handy before sticking on and the form has held up with a couple of the beaten brigade behind her have gone on to claim their respective maiden’s. Some unknowns here with some first starters in action but the daughter of Nicconi went 0.3 lengths slower than standard benchmark last time, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Look for Linda Meech to cut across from the wide barrier and give her every possible chance.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 6 WISH I MIGHT- ($3.30)

Been a while in between drinks for WISH I MIGHT but the seven-year-old can strike at her second run back from a spell. The Daniel Bowman-trained galloper resumed at Warrnambool over the 1200m on March 23 and settled just off the pace before working home well to fill the exacta behind Brazen Brando. She went 1.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. She should have improvement to come at her second run back, while the 3kg claim for Ryan Houston gets her down to a winnable weight.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9 No. 1 SO SHE CAN FLY  – ($2.40)

SO SHE CAN FLY can just about make it back to back wins when she steps out in Race 9. The four-year-old has won two of five and resumed in a BenchMark 64 on March 3, scoring well from Boom Boom Sweet at Ararat over the 1600m. The daughter of So You Think rises 4.5kg on that performance but comes back to BM58 and she is proven here, while John Allen rides. The Group 1 winning jockey is two from seven for the stable, providing a 218% profit on turnover for punters.
