Race 5 No. 1 THE BOSS LADY – ($4.65)

Big win from THE BOSS LADY who missed the kick over 1000m first-up. The filly was impressive during her first prep in winning three of her five races for trainer Michael Lane. The Boss Lady showed no speed whatsoever on race day and struggled into get into stride under Chris Parnham. Parnham plotted his course closer to the fence with The Boss Lady in what proved a winning move. The Boss lady got her nose down in time to out-point Close Talker and Playing Games. Impressed again second-up when settled just off the hot speed over 1100m before wearing down Lexington City. Comes up against Twain’s Angel in an intriguing battle where we expect Luke Cambell to fill play a stalking role on The Boss Lady.

Race 3 No. 3 DESENNEA – ($4)

Karnup trainer Jordan Rolfe sent DESENNEA to Ascot Racecourse where the gelding resumed over 1400m. Desennea had been unbeaten while fresh going into this run and found his match in a muddling run race. The winner was set alight midrace to finally inject some speed into the race to help suit Desennea who was parked around midfield the fence. Desennea found a run through into the straight to get second in a bunched finish behind Hesket. We black booked Desennea off of that run taking the view that he’ll be better over more ground as he gets into the prep. Time to tap into the book now with the blinkers going on Desennea who stays to the mile at his fourth run back.

Race 4 No. 1 MACK MACK – ($9.50)

We marked MACK MACK as a horse of interest following a recent review from Ascot Racecourse. Mack Mack was racing second-up with trainer Tom Wolfe getting his horse out to the mile. Luke Campbell had asked Mack Mack to come right back off the slow tempo with his mount over racing from worse than midfield. Campbell angled towards the middle part of the track on turning with Mack Mack while the quinella horses both took the shortcut nearer the fence. Mack Mack finished hard to run third, beaten less than a neck from the winner. Senior rider goes on and Mack Mack will strip fitter third-up as Wolfe brings him back to 1400m.
