Randwick Racing Tips 3 Nov 2026: Can Puffin Make It Four?

Overview

Puffin arrives at Randwick having won three on the bounce, and the Highway at 12:25pm asks whether a horse in that kind of rhythm can do it again in a 16-horse sprint. Three wins from three starts in the last 90 days, barrier 2, and 54kg on the back. That is the race that frames our Randwick racing tips for Cup day.

The Sydney card runs alongside Flemington and it is no filler. Ten races on a Good track, from 1094m to 1969m, with two rich Quality handicaps over 1750m in the middle of the day and a run of benchmark sprints to close. Chris Waller has four runners, Ciaron Maher sends a team with Nash Rawiller aboard most of them, and Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald have numbers in almost every race. Read on for a view on every race, the course form that matters, and where we would put the money.

Reading the Randwick card

There is real course form on this card, which is not always the case on a Tuesday. Super Norwest has had five starts here for two wins, Hellsing has hit the frame in four of five, and Uzziah has run in the first three in all four Randwick visits without winning one. The horses below have at least three runs at the track.

Horse Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Super Norwest 5 2 2 40% 40%
Hellsing 5 1 4 20% 80%
Uzziah 4 0 4 0% 100%
Signor Tortoni 4 1 2 25% 50%
It’s A Knockout 4 1 2 25% 50%
Lord Remlap 3 2 2 67% 67%
Wanaruah 3 2 2 67% 67%
Matias 3 1 3 33% 100%

Places here count every finish in the first three, wins included. Among the riders, Nash Rawiller and Chad Schofield stand apart on place rate.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
N Rawiller 138 23 65 17% 47%
C Schofield 121 16 52 13% 43%
Siena Grima 113 13 48 12% 42%
J R Collett 116 16 40 14% 34%
Tyler Schiller 142 13 45 9% 32%
Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Joseph Pride 105 12 51 11% 49%
C J Waller 414 57 177 14% 43%
Michael Freedman 77 10 34 13% 44%
G Waterhouse & A Bott 124 15 54 12% 44%
C Maher 137 24 51 18% 37%

Maher’s 18% strike rate is the best of the big stables, and when the stable pairs with Rawiller here the numbers tighten: four wins from 13 together at Randwick, the latest on Saturday.

Randwick race-by-race tips

Race 1: Midway (Bm72), 11:45am, 1969m

The market has this as a two-horse race and we mostly agree, but we land on La Morra. A winner last start, La Morra has hit the frame in two of three Randwick runs, and Chad Schofield gets the ride on 56.5kg. Over 1969m that experience of the track counts for something.

Cabbucio is the one to beat. Joseph Ible‘s runner has placed in all three starts in the last 90 days and carries just 52.5kg with C Keatings aboard, which is why it is $3.60 with Unibet against La Morra‘s $3.90 with Bet Right. The worry is that Cabbucio keeps finding one better: no win from those three runs.

The value sits further out. Darn Cute won the only start here, has run in the first three in all three runs in the last 90 days, and Craig Carmody has won four of eight with runners at Randwick. At $9 with Unibet, that is worth a saver. Win on La Morra, each-way on Darn Cute.

Race 2: Tab Highway Hcp (C3), 12:25pm, 1094m

Can Puffin make it four straight? The last three runs read 1-1-1, all inside the last 90 days, and nothing in this field has a profile like it. Puffin draws barrier 2, Mollie Fitzgerald has ridden 81 times here, and 54kg is a handy weight for a horse in this sort of form.

The obvious knock is that Puffin has never raced at Randwick and the Highway is a big jump in the size of the field. Barrier 2 helps with that: Fitzgerald can hold a spot on the fence without spending petrol.

Star Of Lily is the danger, a winner of both runs in the last 90 days and in on 52.5kg with Siena Grima, but barrier 11 will be a test. Angie’s Sister (two wins from three lately) rounds out the trio. Puffin to win, and our best bet of the day.

Race 3: Alinta Energy (Bm64), 1:05pm, 1422m

Two confirmed winners in form and a draw that splits them. Alabama Showdown has finished in the first three in all four starts in the last 90 days, winning two, and jumps from barrier 3 for Joseph Pride, whose runners hit the frame nearly half the time at this track. A Adkins just needs to land the horse in the first few.

Rolling Home has won the last two and placed on the only Randwick visit, so it is not without claims. The trouble is barrier 11 with 59.5kg. Shuda Known (also two from two lately) starts even wider in 18. Alabama Showdown to win, with Rolling Home in the exotics.

Race 4: Toyota Forklifts (Bm88), 1:40pm, 1640m

Hard to have a strong view in this one. Charleroi won last start, has run in the first three in both runs in the last 90 days, and jumps from the inside gate on 54kg for Nacim Dilmi. That profile is enough to have Charleroi on top.

Man Of Worth is the Waller runner with the best form line, but the last two runs have been sixths after a sequence of wins, and Kerrin McEvoy has to find the right run. Small win bet on Charleroi only.

Race 5: Big Dance Qlty, 2:20pm, 1750m

The richest race on the card and the one where class tells. Formal Display has won a race worth real money in the last 90 days, with $876,100 in prize money from two starts in that time. The horse also won one of two starts at Randwick and draws barrier 2 with 56.5kg. Nothing else in the field comes close on recent earnings.

The question is pace. With 20 runners and a lot of them drawn wide, the race could string out, which suits a horse that can sit handy from a low gate. Schofield knows the track: 121 rides here and in the first three 43% of the time.

Cavalry Man is the danger, with two wins from four in the last 90 days, and $190,900 in that time says the wins came in good races. Barrier 17 is the problem. Matusalem has placed in all three runs lately for Waller but jumps from 21. Puntin hits the frame often (five placings from six lately) without winning enough. Uzziah is the each-way curiosity: four Randwick starts, four placings, no wins, and gate 23 to deal with.

Formal Display to win. Saver on Cavalry Man.

Race 6: Barn Dance Hcp, 3:30pm, 1422m

Super Norwest is the course horse. Five starts at Randwick for two wins is the best record on the card at volume, the last run was a win, and the weight is 50kg from barrier 9. That weight against Chidiac‘s 62.5kg is the swing in a handicap like this, and the gate is fine for a horse that knows the track.

Lord Remlap has the better strike rate here, two wins from three, but finished sixth last start after a run of wins and carries 54kg. Off The Press is the placegetter: four runs in the last 90 days, four placings, no wins. That is the each-way play. Super Norwest to win, Off The Press each-way.

Race 7: Little Dance Qlty, 4:10pm, 1750m

Fukubana has run in the first three in all four starts in the last 90 days, winning one, and draws the rail with Schofield on 55kg. In a 21-horse field that gate saves ground the wide runners cannot get back.

Flying From Above is the danger, placed in all three runs lately and second on the only Randwick start, but barrier 10 asks more. I’mintowin (also three placings from three) is the Maher runner to include. Fukubana to win, a saver exacta with Flying From Above.

Race 8: Asahi Super Dry Choisir (Bm100), 4:50pm, 1203m

Wanaruah brings two wins from three Randwick starts and won last start, which makes this one hard to leave out of anything. Barrier 3 with 60kg is fine, and Braith Nock should be handy.

Polyglot is the one that worries us. Four runs in the last 90 days, two wins and four placings, and only 55kg from barrier 4. If Wanaruah gets caught three wide, Polyglot is the one who takes advantage. Win on Wanaruah, place on Polyglot.

Race 9: Quayclean (Bm84), 5:30pm, 1094m

Bjorn Baker‘s Compensation has won the last three, including the only start at Randwick, and carries 54.5kg from barrier 9. That is a horse still going forward, and there is no obvious reason this is the race where it stops.

Benevac is the danger, with a win and two placings from two Randwick runs and the Rawiller and Maher partnership aboard. Hay Street has the same course record. Compensation to win.

Race 10: The Agency Real Estate (Bm84), 6:05pm, 1312m

Enamorada won the only Randwick start, won last time too, and gets Rawiller for Maher again on 57.5kg. The right horse to finish the day with.

Sweethearted won the only run in the last 90 days, and that win was worth $71,500, so the form is current and at a decent level. Pride To Follow, who won last start, completes the exotics. Win on Enamorada.

Where the money goes

NAP: Puffin (Race 2, 12:25pm). Three straight wins and an inside gate in a big field. That form line is the cleanest on the card.

Value: Darn Cute (Race 1, 11:45am). $9 with Unibet for a horse that won its only Randwick start and has placed in each of the last three. Each-way.

Banker: Compensation (Race 9, 5:30pm). Three wins in a row, one of them here. The one to anchor a late multi.

Each-way: Off The Press (Race 6, 3:30pm). Four placings from four lately. Expect it in the finish again.

Course angle: Rawiller for Maher. Four wins from 13 together at Randwick, with Benevac and Enamorada in the last two races and Gringotts in the Big Dance.

The quaddie runs from Race 7 to Race 10, and if Fukubana takes the first leg from the rail it should open up for the course specialists after that.
