Best Bet comes up early and it is POIEMA that can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up behind California Blaze over the 1000m here on July 5. On that occasion, the Mike Moroney-trained galloper was posted wide without cover and couldn’t quite catch the winner in the closing stages. She was around the mark in some much stronger races than this as a two-year-old, while she should take improvement off her recent run.

Race 7 No. 8 BRAZEN BRANDO – ($17)

Going for one at the double figure odds in Race 7 and that horse is BRAZEN BRANDO. The six-year-old was a winner in weaker company two starts ago before rising to this grade on July 12 and finishing runner-up behind Hallowed Ground. She was well beaten by that horse but comes in with the second best last start figures of any runner, while the form out of that race has held up since. Also worth noting that he likes the surface and draws to save ground from barrier 1.
