Race 5 No. 6 SUBRISING- ($3.70) 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for SUBRISING. The Nigel Blackiston-trained galloper was excellent when resuming at Caulfield on March 13 over the 1200m, running on for 5th behind In Her Stride. She then tackled a BenchMark 70 at Sandown and was never really in it, settling back and running a well-beaten 9th behind Niance. She was back that day on a slow tempo but did produced the second fastest last 200m. The daughter of Needs Further drops in grade and the step to the 1400m will suit. A firmer in the early betting, she should be suited by what shapes as a better pace in this race and will be peaking third up.

Race 7 No. 6 BRAZEN BRANDO- ($9.10) 

BRAZEN BRANDO is an each-way player in Race 7. The locally-trained galloper has been edging closer in recent times, finishing a length off them at his past couple of starts. At his last assignment, the seven-year-old stepped out at Kyneton over the 1103m and settled second half in the small field and made up ground late in the piece to place 3rd. The son of Brazen Beau has attracted support in the early betting and gets the large claim for Jaylah Kennedy, with that pair to jump from barrier 4.
