Race 3 No. 3 TUSCAN SUN- ($4.60)

TUSCAN SUN can break the Maiden in Race 3. The Mitchell Freedman-trained galloper shows a bit of promise and was luckless here two starts ago when 4th before stepping out at Sandown on March 28 and running 3rd behind Power Missile over the 1400m. The four-year-old loomed up with 200m to go but just went down late. This looks easier and the son of Cable Bay gets the blinkers for the first time. That should sharpen him up and look for the four-year-old to be strong late in the piece.

Race 7 No.1 PRINCE OF MERCIA- ($5)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for PRINCE OF MERCIA. The Clayton Douglas-trained galloper drops from a BenchMark 64 and was 9th at Sandown in that company over the 1200m at his latest, beaten just over three lengths. He drops to the 1000m and best form seems to be below 1200m. At this stage of his last preparation, the son of Magnus was runner-up at Sale over the 1100m in a BM 64. He draws wide for this and might push up, while the 3kg claim for Thomas Prebble gets him down to a winnable weight.
