Bordertown Tips 22/07/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 3 KEYSOR – ($5)

Track specialist KEYSOR backed up his handy first-up run with a strong-finishing effort at Strathalbyn. He was able to remain within 6L of the leader of an even tempo after jumping with them. Stacey Metcalfe angled off the fence to find the back of the winner in Pivotal Force. The pair have come to the extreme outside in search of better going as they set out after the winner. Get the feeling Keysor may have peaked inside the 100m and just kept grinding as the bigger horse held the margin to the line. Since found So Say Angel too sharp at Murray Bridge with Kristi Evans finding a winnable race here.

 NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 6 RODNEY – ($11)

Well-travelled trainer David Page often enjoys success when he brings his horses to Bordertown. He entrusts gun apprentice Lachlan Overall to guide us home in the last with RODNEY who is coming off a last-start victory over 1050 metres in Balaklava. Alice Lindsay gave him a treat that day, tracking up behind the speed to present into the straight. The pair gradually wore down the two leaders to edge clear for a strong win. The win brought about some reward for effort following his previous good effort at metro level in Murray Bridge. Rodney couldn’t find a lot of running room when racing third-up there. Still boxed on okay between horses for his third placing that day. Rock hard fit, handles most conditions and can be hunting the finish again

 BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2 No. 4 THE SNOW BURNER – ($14)

Murray Bridge trainer John Hickmott brings THE SNOW BURNER back for his second prep. He’s found a suitable country maiden on a track which has a nice long straight to suit the horse’s big stride. Didn’t do a lot when always out the back as he raced over 1550 metres here prior to being tipped out. Has trialed twice on the synthetic at home in readiness for return. The Snow Burner jumped sharply to trial up early with subsequent Fiamette then wasn’t asked much on straightening. Wasn’t away quite as well for his latest trial when he worked home between horses under his own steam. Both efforts were okay going into this, and we’ll have look as a roughie at the double figure odds.
