Race 6 No. 1 NANTUCKET – ($3.20)
Local trainer Fred Wieland will be glad to see the back of Avatae as NANTUCKET makes his way back to a Class One. Graham Kliese gave Nantucket a nice trail just off the speed set by Avatae over this track and trip two back. Avatae opened a break on straightening with Nantucket finishing best of the rest. Kliese allowed his mount to settle further back at their next attempt as Avatae set a fast tempo in front. Nantucket had a lot of work to do and was making great strides out wide before the post loomed large. Should find the speed good up front again with Taken By Theft engaged and will strip fitter again.

Race 3 No. 3 MY BEST EFFORT – ($4.50)
We were on MY BEST EFFORT to produce precisely such last week in Townsville. She ran right up to that as she went closes to a career peak, unfortunately just not enough to finish amongst the placings. Her career best had been produced the start prior when knocking off the hot-pot More The Merrier over this track and trip. My Best Effort comes back in class while being tasked with extra weight which she has carried successfully in the past.

Race 4 No. 9 DENISE’S PRIDE – ($8.50)
Alwyn Bailey’s filly DENISE’S PRIDE hasn’t been too far off them this prep. Settled handy to the pace over this track and trip two runs ago when only made steady improvement throughout. Came from around midfield when coming back to the 950 metres last start. She was the one making ground noticeably out wide late in a handy maiden. Denise’s Pride is getting into her prep now and looks like she needs a bit further than those sharp 950 metre races. Pace will be okay with Lord Power rolling forward inside here. Chris Whiteley should find a nice trail just in behind the leaders to give Denise’s Pride every chance of breaking through for a win.
