Darwin Tips 27/07/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 3 AUTOCRATIC – ($3.10)

We’ll wait for the lucky last to launch our Best Bet which is AUTOCRATIC. Consistency is the key with Autocratic favoring this track and distance. We were on Swing With Junior last start after suggesting Valentina Star ad nauseam in races prior. We felt she had peaked late on previous 1200 metre runs and Swing With Junior would be too strong. Valentina Star pulled the 360 on us in out-toughing Swing With Junior. We’re going to stick with our original assessment owing to the slower early tempo of that race. Autocratic comes from a different class level and has drawn the inside for Jarrod Todd. If there’s any cracks in the other two, Autocratic will expose them.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 2 ELMORE LAD – ($5)

Kym Hann comes back to class with a fit ELMORE LAD who is bursting to win. We also don’t mind them coming back slightly in trip at this stage of their prep as we know they’re going to be strong through the line. We were on over the 1300 metres last time as Adam Nicholls put him in the box-seat only to find Smartkap too good from start to finish. Elmore Lad was only grinding to the line Zou der Zee ran past with momentum. The engagement of Sonja Wiseman can only be a good one and Elmore Lad can improve his tale of the tape in winning this.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 5 CHAMPS D’OR – ($7)

Trainer Chris Nash is leaving no stones unturned as he searches for a way to win with CHAMPS D’OR. We’re coming back to this mare after leaving off over 1300 metres last start. Nash probably never did get to find out if the trip suited as there was no loafing when Champs D’Or took the front running off of Quick Return. Champs D’Or doesn’t own any change-up of pace or lengthen any harder, just rolls forward and grinds throughout. Back to the 1100 metres where she can play Johnny-on-the-spot and following the speed.
