Local galloper DALAVIN has managed five podium finishes (including three wins) from his past seven starts and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he is a genuine winning chance today. Last start, the Fast ‘n Famous gelding clobbered his opposition in a BM66 Hcp over 1000m at Gunnedah. Lumping 60.5kgs, he drew wide that day but crossed to lead on settling. Challenged on the home turn, Clayton Gallagher got him going again and he went on to an easy win, crossing the line more than two lengths ahead of them. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to take up the front running again and carrying less weight, looks the testing material here.

Race 2: No. 2 LIFE WELL LIVED ($4.60 bet365)
The locally-trained LIFE WELL LIVED hit a snag last start but is more than capable of bouncing back here today. Coming off back-to-back wins, the Vancouver gelding Lined-up in the Winter Qualifier, here over 1310m where he sat three-wide to the turn, but gave them too much start, finishing unplaced in the event. Stepping back up to the mile today, he will enjoy the extra ground here as Anthony Cavallo sticks with him. Drawn much better in gate five and down in weight as well, he looks a definite winning chance in this contest.

Race 7: No. 2 LADY RIZ ($10 Ladbrokes)
Wellington galloper LADY RIZ has been knocking on the door lately and looks a good chance of cracking her first win for this campaign today. Last start, the Zariz mare found the podium for the second time this preparation when she finished third in a BM66 Hcp, here over the mile trip. She drops back in grade today but has the outside gate to contend with here. Ken Dunbar sticks with her and he boasts a strong record with the mare, riding her on 14 previous occasions for four wins and five minor placings. If he can get her to cross and settle better than mid-field, she has a better than even chance of being there when it counts. She looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
