Race 3 No. 1 CASCADE MOUNTAIN- ($8.50) 

CASCADE MOUNTAIN can go a few spots better than a debut effort that saw him place 4th at Ballarat on April 16. The Team Hayes-trained galloper settled just worse than midfield that day and took a bit of time to get going before closing off with the fastest last 200m to place 4th behind Iceberg. That experience should hold the son of Justify in good stead and the step up to the 1600m should suit.

Race 8 No. 9 THE HAY FLYER- ($9) 

Willing to have something on THE HAY FLYER in Race 8 of the day. The five-year-old was a strong winner at Swan Hill two starts ago over the 1300m then was tried at Mildura over the 1400m, running 6th behind Just Like Lisa. She worked hard in the early stages from the outside barrier to lead last time and went fast out in front before being entitled to fade late. The daughter of Smart Missile draws a much better spot this time around and should enjoy a softer time of it. She can bounce back.
