Flemington Tips 4/3/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 4  SO UNUSUAL- ($2.70)

No reason to suggest why SO UNUSUAL can’t win again when he tackles Race 2 at Flemington. The progressive four-year-old from the Tony McEvoy camp has won four of seven, including his past three. He stepped out at Sandown off a one month break on February 11 and was too good in the concluding stages, defeating Highland Jakk by half a length. The four-year-old looks up to the rise in class and he ran solid time over the 2400m at Sandown, while the form from that race has held up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 4 WILD BELLE – ($3.70)

Keen on the West Australian visitor, WILD BELLE, in Race 4. She takes on the fellow fillies over the 1000m down the Flemington straight and was impressive at Ascot on February 5, spearing away to win by nearly four lengths from Malkar Pindari over the 1100m. She pulled up with a poor recover but was still too good. At her previous second up run she was excellent at Ascot over the 1100m before placing at Listed level. She draws barrier 2 for this assignment, while the leading Perth jockey, Chris Parnham, comes over for the ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 1 TUVALU – ($4.60)

Big fan of Gentleman Roy but think that TUVALU can be the improver out of the recent CF Orr Stakes (1400m). Gentleman Roy was first past the post that day before being relegated to the runner-up slot in the stewards room behind Jacquinot. Tuvalu just faded at the business end to finish 7th, beaten just over a length. He has bene a big improver second up in the past and defeated Gentelman Roy at the same stage in the Toorak Handicap (1600m) in the spring. The five-year-old also performs very well over the 1600m at Flemington with two wins and three runner-up performances in his five goes, including one behind Alligator Blood in the Champions Mile (1600m) last November. He will settle handy from barrier 5 and take some beating.
