Gawler Tips 03/08/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 1 DEEVINE – ($3.20)

Horses found it hard to loop from the back at Morphettville Parks as DEEVINE attempted to do second-up. There were a few others during the day who did run on somewhat after finding cover early. Ryan Balfour sent her around over the sharp five-furlongs following a stunning win at Gawler over 1100m first-up. Not sure the 1000 metres on the tight track was to her liking at that stage. We black booked her off that run and just held off last start as she went back to the Parks for another go. This race looks ideal despite the wide draw with Balfour booking his in form stable apprentice Alana Livesy to claim her three kilos.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 2 KEYSOR – ($7)

Murray Bridge trainer Kristi Evans has this race set up beautifully for KEYSOR and she’s gone straight for the claim of Lachlan Overall. We marked Keysor as one to follow after his strong second-up performance at Strathalbyn. We were on when he went around in the revamped meeting at Bordertown where he found the 1300 metres a little too sharp. Stacey Metcalfe found a nice position near the speed with him before becoming shuffled back a little as the pace slackened. The pair have ground home okay in a race won by the stablemate with the 1500 metres of Gawler seemingly ideal.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2 No. 10 TEQUILA SUNSET – ($11)

Bill Bogarts had TEQUILA SUNSET Resuming here a fortnight ago under Lizzie Annells while racing back in the field with Stay At Home. Annells had Barend Vorster riding to her inside and with their similar style, we may not be able to tell them apart soon. The strong inside rider has worked his way into the clear by straightening leaving Tequila Sunset flat-footed. She’s ground home okay in a strong race where we’ve marked Stay At Home as one to follow. Might hold a spot the fence with any sort of pressure drawn out wide and Tequila Sunset did show us some ability last time in.
