BEST BET 🏆

Race 8 No. 7 CHAMBERS BAY ($4.40)

The wide gate has no doubt played its part in handing us a wide opening quote for CHAMBERS BAY in the last at Gawler Racecourse on Wednesday. Jockey Kayla Crowther will steer Chambers Bay from gate ten of ten once scratching’s come out with some speed drawn to her inside. The field did string out for her last time as Crowther found a midfield position the fence for Chambers Bay who was coming off a let-up. Chambers bay got home for third in a fast-run race over 1250m behind Episodic and The Stalker. That form should stack up here, and Chambers Bay can finish over them with Crowther curled up behind the speed early.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 3 FLYING ASSASSIN ($11)

Our recent review from Gawler Racecourse found FLYING ASSASSIN as our black booker following the ANZAC Day meeting. Racingbase SA followers collected the cash on Fourth Power as one of our bets of the day when that horse scored after settling near the speed. Caitlin Tootell had to let Flying Assassin slide early with the horse going too well to be held from their wide gate. Tootell turned one of the widest runners and it probably wasn’t a bad thing that she almost immediately dropped the whip as her mount threatened to lay-in badly. Flying Assassin got home best of the rest for second and can go close again with southpaw jock Sairyn Fawke rejoining him in the saddle.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 7 GADIDAE ($23)

We might be jumping on one run too soon as Sarah Rutten takes GADIDAE to the races second-up on Wednesday. The horse has something of an affinity with this track and distance. Showed speed and looked the winner when taking over on turning before succumbing late to Superior Sam. That was the start of three-straight wins for Superior Sam who won his next two in town. Two runs later and Gadidae atoned by settling off the speed to break her maiden. Didn’t find a lot of room early to mid stages when resuming over 1300m at Bordertown last start. Two winners have come out of that race since and Stacey Metcalfe should find a comfortable run for Gadidae from the ideal gate.
