Race 7 No. 3 WELL PLAYED ($2.55)

Happy to stay aboard the WELL PLAYED train after the mare etched out a gritty win for us last start. Nothing else had been successful in racing on the pace all day and Rosie Mahony had no hesitation in sending Well Played straight to the front. The pair were racing over this track and trip with Mahony ensuring a solid tempo for the race. She got away from the horse who was doing all the attacking to lead clearly inside the furlong. Well Played had to dig deep inside that last furlong and found enough to outlast Butterflyrock by a narrow margin. That win completed a hattrick of wins for Well Played who is a mare racing in peak form for local trainer Albert Bowtell.

Race 6 No. 6 MIFF MUFFERED MOOF ($4.20)

Locally trained mare MIFF MUFFERED MOOF was given a treat of a ride through the early stages under Natasha Faithfull here two runs back. Faithful would take out a riding double on the card and appeared ready to upset the favourite Well Played with her sense of timing. She had her mount settled midfield the fence off the strong tempo before taking an opening as the field straightened for home. That opening soon narrowed though, with horses wanting to lay back on top of Miff Muffered Mood. The pair were beaten less than a length in fast time and a clear path may have made things interesting with the winner. Given none when wide on the speed and up in grade last time. Miff Muffered Moof now fares better from the barrier draw under Keshaw Dhurun on Wednesday.

Race 4 No. 4 THREE SESSIONS ($7)

Happy to go with JUST ADORABELLE as our roughie while resuming. She does look like the progressive horse who is up in grade following a successful prep last time in. Just Adorabelle was noticed making ground from near last first-up last time in as Troy Turner brought her to the outside of the track. She rattled home to split Trespassing and Alaskan while running second in smart time over this trip at Ascot. Bolted in second-up in a weaker maiden at Pinjarra before being tipped out after pulling up slightly lame at her next start. Just Adorabelle was given a reasonably quiet trial under Turner in preparation for return and may surprise these.
