BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No. 3  THE RITZ  ($1.90  BlueBet)

Locally-trained by Michael Morrison, THE RITZ is second-up today and ticks all the right boxes to be declared our best on the card. Last start, the Mossman gelding was fresh off a lengthy six-month break when he finished just behind the placegetters in a BM78 Hcp over 1400m on a Heavy 10 at the Sunshine Coast. He ran the last 600m, 4.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 4 lengths. Drawn the fence today, he gets the gun-run with Lani Allen in the saddle for the first time. Unbeaten second-up (three from three), unbeaten at the track (three from three) and he is two from two at the track at this distance, he looks the goods here.

NEXT BEST đŸ„ˆ

Race 2:  No. 3  JETFOIL  ($4  Ladbrokes)

The Helen Page-trained JETFOIL is in great touch this preparation and yet to miss a podium finish this time in. Last start, the Snitzel made it three-straight minor placings when he finished third in a Class 1 Plate over the mile at Ipswich. He raced very greenly that day and pulled hard during the race. Brad Pengelley gets his first ride on the three-year-old today and placed previously at the track, he looks a genuine contender in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No. 7  TIERRA DEL FUEGO  ($19  Neds)

Neville Boyle saddles-up TIERRA DEL FUEGO here and second-up today, could give this contest a real fright at odds. Last start, the Rothesay gelding resumed off a lengthy 19-week break and jumping from the outside gate, wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (of 12) in a BM68 Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm. He ran his last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Jason Taylor has the reins today and with a soft track forecast, conditions should suit after recording two wins on soft tracks previously. Fitter for that first-up run, the extra distance looks ideal here and he is well worth an each-way ticket in this company.
