The John Thompson-trained AUSPICIOUS CLOUD is in great touch this preparation and looks well placed here to bring up her second win at the track. Last start, the well-bred American Pharoah filly beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden over 2000m at Canberra. She ran her last 600m, 5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the journey. Already a winner here at her only visit (three starts back), she is ideally drawn in gate three and will beating today.

Last start, the Contributer gelding finally shook the maiden monkey off his back and broke through, here over the mile. On a Heavy 10 that day, he posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals in his half-length victory. He steps up in grade here but tis looks no harder than his last-start win and already a track and distance winner, he should strip even fitter here and prove hard to beat today.
