BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No. 9 SALT AND PEPPER ($8 Unibet)
Glenn Innes galloper SALT AND PEPPER is three starts into this campaign and looks a solid chance of bringing up win number two today. Last start, the American-bred gelding was third-up when he finished third (again) in a Class 2 Hcp over 1000m at Tamworth. He set a new personal best in that contest, running the trip, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 6 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Those stats alone stand out here and suggest he is ready at his first look on the Gunnedah track today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No. 3 AUNTIE MONNIE ($3.70 Neds)
Tamworth galloper AUNTIE MONNIE is in great touch this time in and returning to country racing today, looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Arlington mare took on a Highway Class 3 Hcp over 1100m at Rosehill and found them a little slick on the day, finishing midfield in the event. She covered the trip, 1 length slower than benchmark, the best here by 3 lengths. Back in her comfort zone today, she has Grant Buckley aboard and ideally drawn in gate three, maps to be in the first half-dozen on settling. With a trouble-free run here, she should prove hard to hold out today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No. 5 EXOLAY ($4.20 bet365)
The Kris Lees-trained EXOLAY is in good touch this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start the Exosphere filly proved too good for a Class 2 field over 1500m at Port Macquarie as she claimed her second career victory. She ran a new personal best that day, running the trip out, 3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field for last-start efforts. Dylan Gibbons sticks with her here as she makes her track debut today. Meeting similar company, she looks set to win again at odds.
