BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No. 4  RISING FROM ASHES  ($3.20  Ladbrokes)

Francis Lui saddles-up RISING FROM ASHES here who has finally found his mojo and looks set for back-to-back victories tonight. Last start, Shamus Award gelding brought up win number one at Happy Valley when he clobbered a Class 3 field, here over 1200m. He ran that out in a slick 1:08.8 and covered his last 600m, 4.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Putting 2.5 lengths on them, he ran a new personal best for the journey as well, covering it, 7.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Joao Moreira sticks with him tonight as he keeps the pressure on Zac Purton for Premiership honours. Already a winner at the track and distance, he looks the one to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No. 4  HARDLY SWEARS  ($6.50  Unibet)

The Jimmy Ting-trained HARDLY SWEARS has been thereabouts this time in and now looks ready to win. Last start, the All Too Hard gelding finished a close-up third in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1200m. He ran that out, 2.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Leslie (who after six starts is still a maiden and has drawn the outside gate (12) tonight). Vince Ho is legged aboard here for his fifth-straight ride on the seven-year-old who is a track specialist, with all three career wins coming at Happy Valley. If he can overcome his wide draw here, he should be there at the finish.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No. 10  RUN RUN COOL  ($10  Neds)

Boasting three podium finishes from his past four starts, the Frankie Lor-trained RUN RUN COOL steps-up in class tonight but has the runs on the board to considered a real threat here at odds. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding was caught between runners before getting clear and finished strongly to claim second prize in a Class 3 down the Sha Tin straight course. Doing his best work late, he ran the trip out, 12.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up and posting a new personal best as well. Harry Bentley returns for the ride tonight after six previous rides and he will in search of his first win on the galloper here. Yet to win at Happy Valley, he is ideally drawn in gate 4 and looks well worth an each-way ticket tonight.
