BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.9  KISS ME LATER  ($6.50 with Bet Right)

Townsville galloper, KISS ME LATER, is four starts into this campaign and with a rider change here, looks a solid chance of victory today. Last start, the Bel Esprit gelding settled mid-field (one off the fence) and finished strongly to beat all but the favourite (Phantom Spirit) home in a BM70 over the 1000m sprint at Townsville. Today, the stable have booked the services of ‘Lethal’ Lacey Morrison to pilot their seven-year-old (for the first time) in this contest who should be at his peak now and coming in on the limit here (55kgs), he should prove hard to hold out in this company.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.7  OLD SCHOOL  ($3.60 with bet365)

Local galloper OLD SCHOOL has been thereabouts at her past few starts and deserves a change of luck here today. Last start, the Headwater mare came from well back to arrive in time for third prize in a BM65 over 1200m at Townsville with Adrian Layt in the saddle. She is on a short back-up here (six days) and drops in grade, meeting easier company today. Layt sticks with her and back on home soil here, she could take beating in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.9  YELLOWSTONE BETH  ($9.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Lindsay Hatch-trained YELLOWSTONE BETH is four starts into this campaign and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Territories filly came off a five-week freshen-up when she was faced with the daunting task of matching strides with the boom sprinter Roweiner’s Dance and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in the 1000m event. Settling with the backmarkers, the three-year-old filly finished strongly to get within four lengths of the $1.14 favourite, which wasn’t that bad considering the talent she was up against. Roweiner isn’t here today and she is stepping-up slightly in distance which looks ideal at this stage of her preparation. Adrian Layt remains in the saddle for today’s assignment. She has found the podium three times from her seven career starts and from an ideal draw here (in gate 2), watch for her powerful finish today.
