Last start, the Capitalist gelding made it back-to-back victories when he finished best to claim first prize in Open company over 1200m at the Bowen track. Jackson Murphy was aboard that day and now two from two with the four-year-old and steers the ship again today. Meeting similar company here, he is at the top of his game since arriving from the Peter Robl stables on the Gold Coast and looks the testing material again today.

The Graham Hughes-trained LADY RAIN is in top-shelf form of late and looks well placed here to bounce back and take out this contest. Last start, the Wandjina mare was chasing the hat-trick when she had to settle for third prize in a BM70 over 1250m on a Soft 6 at Cairns. Already a two-time winner over 1400m, she will appreciate the rise in trip today while two-time winning rider, ‘Lethal’ Lacey Morrison, sticks with her for this assignment. From gate five, she maps to settle in the first couple of pairs and avoiding any trouble, she looks the one to beat today.

Race 8:  No.3  OH MY HAT  ($3.30 with Neds)

The Errol Sewell-trained OH MY HAT has finally put some runs on the board and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Sooboog gelding ran around for the 15th time and finally broke through for his Maiden win over 1400m on his home track at Townsville. Ridden for the first time by Lacey Morrison, he took over on straightening and went on with it to cross the line a length clear in the end. This looks no harder as he gets the gun-run from gate one and has Morrison sticking with him for this assignment. He maps to be box-seating on settling and should prove hard to hold out from there.
