The Jamie Richards-trained MAGNIAC has been knocking on the door for a win this time in and tonight looks like the night for it to happen for him. Last start, the Lucky Street gelding made it three podium finishes from his past four starts when he took home third prize in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. The pace was genuine as he settled in the one, one with Zac Purton in charge. On straightening, Purton asked him for an effort and he hit the line strongly in a four-horse charge to the line, finishing third in the wash-up. Now he has seen Happy Valley, he will be rock-hard fit tonight and now he knows his way around, he should take beating here.

Race 9: No.6 BRAVE STAR ($4.60 with Palmerbet)

Francis Lui saddles-up BRAVE STAR here who ticks enough boxes to stake a serious claim for victory tonight. Last start, the Myboycharlie gelding added another Happy Valley notch to his resume when he was too strong for them, taking out a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m. He ran that trip out, 8.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 2 lengths and set a new personal best as well. Vince Ho was aboard that night and sticks with him here. Now a two-time winner at the track and distance, he draws ideally in gate four and will take beating again.

Race 6: No.3 RIGHT AS RAIN ($7.50 with Bet Right)

The David Hall-trained RIGHT AS RAIN has found his mojo recently and looks in the mix here for another big performance tonight. Last start, the five-year-old broke through for his first career-win when he arrived in time to take out the Class 4 Hcp, here over 1800m. He ran the last 600m, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here by 2.5 lengths. Karis Teetan rode him a treat that night and sticks with him here for this slightly shorter assignment. Racing against similar company here, he looks a genuine chance at odds tonight.
