BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 7 EXCEL IN THE SUN – ($3.70)
The Mi Runners horse EXCEL IN THE SUN will likely find market support as always. Going on his latest trial in readiness for return shows us a horse who is heading in the right direction. The Toby & Trent Edmonds duo find the perfect kick off point in this Class one which is run over the same track and trip he broke his maiden at. Ryan Maloney will no doubt look to be positive into a position from an inside gate as the big field builds some pressure from out wide. Excel In The Sun is quite a big gelding who will be looking for running room and will be hard to beat if Maloney can find such on straightening.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 4 ZELIFY – ($5.50)
Kyle Wilson-Taylor gets the nod to ride ZELIFY from Gold Coast trainer Kacy Fogden. The mare rolled forward to follow the leader at a good clip when resuming at home under Jag Guthmann-Chester. The pair tracked to the middle part of the track to hit the front as the back markers started to ascend. While Magnus Bellagio finished with a rush from the back to score, Zelify fought bravely to finish amongst the placings. Fitter and generally holds her form second-up, will likely stroll forward again to be in the hunt for a long way.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 10 DANEZEL – ($5.50)
DANZEL found the pace a little too hot when racing first-up at Doomben over 1200 meters in a Class Three. Jaden Lloyd allowed her to come back off a wide draw before attempting to find runs back to the inside. The winner Delyth ran them ragged into the straight, posting good overall time to the day. Won’t find them so sharp as he steps up to the 1350 metres – a distance he bolted in by 3L in Doomben when second-up last time in. If anything, there’s a slight concern about the lack of pressure in front here. Ben Thompson may find a spot a little closer from the draw for Danzel to utilize his turn of foot.
