Kembla Grange Tips 21/07/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 7 No. 3 VANBURG – ($7.00)
We’ve always had a bit of time for the former Matt Dunn trained VANBURG. He’s thrived since joining the stables of David Pfieffer, winning two of his four races this prep. Won his maiden on a Soft rated 7 when parked outside the leader and favourite, Pharoah’s Reign. That horse tried to kick on straightening, however Vanburg was the horse racing strongest to the line. Fought a gritty win at latest when again parked outside the leader throughout on the Heavy 10 at Gosford. Vanburg kept finding the line while always looking the winner up the straight. Outside draw probably won’t hurt him here either as Jay Ford can allow the big fella some time to stride across again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6 No. 2 GO GAZZA – ($8.50)
There was a bit of a video watch on GO GAZZA from his first-up run at Newcastle. Came away evenly with the field to relax okay under apprentice rider Bailey Wheeler in the Soft 7 conditions. Started to run up behind them prior to turning with Wheeler electing to look for runs into the straight. As the winner Rockstar Boy gathered momentum up the middle, Go Gazza was unable to be fully tested to the line. Trainer Mark Minervini has engaged the services of senior hoop Tommy Berry who can find a good run from the middle alley.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5 No. 5 RAPIDITY – ($7.50)
Jess Taylor will guide RAPIDITY at home tomorrow for Theresa Bateup. The local mare is coming off two good runs in country class, including a first-up placing at Moruya when mostly just grinding from well back. Improved sharply second-up as she followed the smart Kattegat into the race at Queanbeyan. She couldn’t quite peg the inside horse back in time on the Soft surface that day, and strips fitter now. Rapidity has a nice turn of foot when right and capable of running a smart overall time. Pace looks good in this, so we’ll look for Talyor to be urging her over the top of them late.
