Race 8 No. 5 BROOKLYN BABY- ($2.40) 

BROOKLYN BABY can just about make it a hat-trick of wins when she steps out in the final race of the day. Her wins have come either side of a spell, taking out her Maiden in January before resuming at Kyneton on April 27 over the 1115m, romping home by eight lengths from Diamatti. Question marks on those that she defeated but the four-year-old comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and should have improvement to come at her second run. This isn’t a big jump in class and the daughter of Squamosa draws to box seat from barrier 2.

Race 1 No. 4 RETOURNE- ($3) 

This might be the one for RETOURNE to break through. The Danny O’Brien-trained galloper has been thereabouts in some ok form races and was no match for Pariah Pearl at Echuca two starts ago when runner-up but finished ahead of Colonel Hathi, who then claimed his Maiden at Kyneton by two lengths. At his most recent start, Retourne jumped to the 2000m and was posted wide without cover before sticking on for 3rd. He might push forward from the barrier and has the fitness under the belt to take this one out.
