Morphettville Tips 27/04/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 3 WARMONGER – ($3.40)

OTI Racing have unveiled a live Derby chance with WARMONGER who was slow to find his feet in the Guineas a fortnight ago. The horse also over raced through the early and middle stages before gaining a rails run into the straight under Thomas Stockdale. He was still perhaps racing a little underdone at his second start for the prep. Really pinged the ears back to have a crack at early race leader Air Assault inside that last furlong. Just missed the photo while leaving a gap back to the others and may race a little more kindly third-up under Damien Lane.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 4 THE GREAT BABY – ($7)

High rating BM68 race to finish the day where THE GREAT BABY raced forward on top of the fast tempo. She travelled strongly throughout under Alana Livesey before dropping off those other on-pace runners into the straight. The Great Baby came out towards the middle part of the track into the straight only to succumb to the finishing burst of Prairie Flower. The Great Baby has now been bested twice in her two runs back by Prairie Flower who must go to a new grade after Saturday. The quinnella horses held a margin over the closers with The Great Baby fitter and staying to class.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 14 SILENT SURRENTE – ($31)

We marked SILENT SURRENTE as a horse of interest following a recent review from Morphettville Racecourse. Thought the Queen Of The South would be a good target race for her and we’re glad to see the stable send her push towards that on Saturday. She was racing first-up over 1527 metres in a strong BM90 which was dominated by Chicago Storm. That horse led from start to finish in a gap job while Silent Surrente was still last and a long way off the leader inside the 600m. She found the line strongly to run third and has drawn perfectly for her second-up target race over 1600m.
